Hello, a new member here!
I've had E83 30si for three years and decided to celebrate my 60th birhday with 30e! I ordered it three weeks ago and it will arrive in April perhaps. My choice was sunstone with cognac leathers, Luxury pack, adaptive cruise, hook, adaptive lights, heated steering wheel and darkened windows. I was thinking about XC60, but I have really liked the E83 and 30e is always 4wd. Towing capacity is important too, because my boat trailer ranks 1750kg. MB was ruled out because of the small trunk, there must be room for a dog's cage! My dealer has not yet received a 30e, but I tested the 20d and read reviews/videos. I hope to keep this for 10+ years, but we'll see how new tech really works! Last edited by Juhazi; 02-12-2020 at 12:53 PM.. |

2019 brings only symbolic growth, but it was still a record year. 2020 is expected to be way better. The year 2019 was the 9th consecutive record year for the BMW Group (BMW and MINI, BMW M, BMW Motorrad and Rolls-Royce brands) as the overall sales increased 1.2% to 2,520,307. Also, the plug-in electric car sales (by BMW and MINI) hit a new all-time record both in December and 2019, despite the fact that the year was kind of transitional with symbolic growth, due to many plug-ins awaiting their 2nd model evolution. In December, the BMW Group sold a record 17,611 plug-in cars (up 2.1%), which is nearly 7.9% of total volume (new record). And somewhere I've read that in BMW 3-series hybrids sold more than petrol and diesel together, in December 2019 But as well https://www.best-selling-cars.com/br...les-worldwide/ Record Sales in 2019 for BMW M High-Performance Models With sales growth of 32.2% (135,826 deliveries), 2019 was also the most successful year in the almost fifty-year history of BMW M GmbH. More emotional M high-performance models were introduced last year than ever before: In addition to the BMW X models X3 M, X4 M, X5 M and X6 M, the M2 CS and luxury sports cars M8 Coupé, M8 Convertible and M8 Gran Coupé also made their debuts. |

Congrats! Thanks for sharing.
Do you have a spare tire, or are those run flats, with no spare? Can you remind me the equivalent of miles in all electric range? Is it close to 30? Thanks! |

No spare tire. Run flats on summer tires and I decided to go with no run flats for winter, for comfort.
Electric range in European new WLTP standard is defined to be between 41 to 46km depending on the equipment e.g. rim size etc, which should be equivalent to 25 to 29 miles. In real life the range is also highly dependent on the driving style, driving speed, traffic, temperature etc. |

The trunk space is the same anyway. The battery is under the rear seat, I believe, and therefore the petrol tank is moved back which takes some of the boot space. So yes, the boot is like that because of the battery.

Congrats! And thanks for posting some very useful information. Buying/Leasing a car that is not available for a test drive is always risky. Glad to read you are happy with the car.
Looks beautiful. I have ordered, and is waiting for delivery. Has been on code 165 (shiping from US to Europe) since Jan. 15th. Should have arrived in Bremerhaven now. Time to nag my dealer yet again for an update. MSport Carbon Black, 20'' summer (699) and 19'' winter. Vernasca Black and Pearl Chrome. Other extras include Innovation (driving assistant, heads up) and parking assistant plus, needed for my small space. Test drove the X5, could not park it there. The M40i is no doubt better, but where I live, it comes with a $40k extra tax due to CO2 emissions. Pretty much unbuyable here. Same tax for 30e is $6k. I hardly ever see a G01 on the road, and those I see are 20d's. Old X5 40e, on the other hands are a plenty. Popping up som 45e's as well now. |

Sounds like a very nice spec. I think also it is a great colour as I chose between sophisto grey and carbon black.
Norway is probably “the” country where it makes most sense to go with electric/hybrid so understand you choice very well. We have also have plenty of 45e’s popping up and I as well chose between a larger suv X5/MB GLE and mid sized X3/GLC. I had some “regrets” in between almost why i had not taken the X5. But after now driving the X3 for 1,5 week I have zero regrets and have not been thinking about a X5 for a minute. Still very, very happy! |

We have the same tax situation here in Finland. My 30e came cheaper than similarly specced 20d, and 20000 euros less than a 30d. No point in getting anything else than a hybrid with the current taxation rules.
I also considered the X5, but I live downtown and have to park in an underground garage. My parking place is simply too small to fit an X5. |

The especially exciting thing with this was that as one has not test driven the car it is filled with excitement. For me that was the best feeling when after a couple of minutes of driving you got the feeling; “Oh yes!”. Enjoy your big day! |

Oh, okay.
”Mini-Christmas” then. At least this should answer some of the questions you have got while waiting and get a feeling how the car is like. Enjoy! |

XLine yes, color is not said but looks like sunstone (I'd like to say champagne ) It looks different in every photo on lcd screen!
I had a test ride at my dealer's today! It runs very softly and throttle response is good with normal mode. I couldn't feel or hear the ICE coming in. I didn't try individual settings. Steering is light in city, but pretty solid on road. My car is already waiting for transportation, expected delivery in early April. Last edited by Juhazi; 02-12-2020 at 12:38 PM.. |

I also saw the video and I think it gives a good first overview of the settings etc. However, I would actually like even more options to define all the settings in hybrid drive. i.e. more options sensitivity where it only uses petrol as base and how the electric jumps in etc. This is my second hybrid and I did not have more options in my previous car either but after a while one gets nerdy/greedy.
One thing I find odd is that I have now had my car for almost three weeks and I have not seen one journalist review yet(except those early previews in early 2019). Has anyone else seen one? Still very happy with the car and actually not much to add on my first comments. |

I wouldn’t worry about this. I had a 2016 X5 40e before we got the X3M40i. Had to emergency tow my 2011 M3 when it broke down on a cross country move. M3 and X5 were loaded to the gills and I had the M3 on a super heavy UHaul trailer. X5 towed everything with no issues at all. Cruise set at speed limit over the rolling hills of Tennessee and it never struggled. Just set your electrical settings to save battery and it keeps your battery at 50% so it can boost you up hills and recharge down hills. Easy.
