18" rim on 2021 X3 M40i

Hello all,

My first post here

We just picked up a new '21 x3 M40i replacing our '17 x3 35i (we will miss you) and we are now shopping for winters. My tire shop says 18" rim CAN fit the m40i but the official spec sheet says 19" and up. Could anyone confirm whether 18" (in the right spec) could clear the brakes?

Thank you so much

Yes some 18” rim will clear the brakes.
Take a look at tire rack. Even BMW sells a set of winters on the 21 x3 M40i

Thank you!

I just found a post from 2018 and somebody had a pic up with 18" rim on M brakes too. This made my day

Hit up 1010tires.com. They have a great list of 18" wheels that will clear the calipers on the M40i.

They have some decent Enkei 18" wheels for a winter set with the correct offset to clear the brakes.

+1 for 1010 Tire, ask for Andy (drive a X5 so he knows ).

I got 18" and they look good.

Replika R198 wheel, available in 18" & 19", https://fastco.ca/replika/alloy-whee...)&caroptions=2

It was probably my post that you saw:
https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1556515

I have had two sets of 18s on my 2018 M40i without spacers. No rubbing on the brakes at all.

But...make sure that they have the right offset. It needs to match, or be close to, the same offset at OEM.

Paul

P.s. interestingly I just brought up the 18s with Blizzaks today to install on the car this weekend. Removing 18s and putting on 18s!
