Comp Muffler on a Non Comp

Just wondering if I found someone selling their factory comp muffler would it be a direct bolt on with no electronic or coding changes necessary?
Would this require cutting or is the rear muffler section a separate piece?

Would like a little more sound but aftermarket exhausts are usually way too loud for my taste.

Doing exactly this in the coming days. You cut your non comp muffler and use clamps (good ones) or weld the replacement

Entire exhaust is a single piece all the way from the turbo downpipes to the exhaust tips

No software/coding changes needed?

Excellent, thanks!

Please let us know your thoughts after the swap as well...

It's supposed to sound exactly like a stock comp, slight increase in volume. After that I'm wanting to do a valve controller to have them open 100% all the time.

I haven't heard a Comp for reference but i know i really can't hear the exhaust much at all. and the little switch down by the shifter only appears to control the fake engine sound being added.

You def need to code out the ASD, it messes everything up. You'll be able to hear the actual exhaust, which like you mentioned isnt that loud.

I was afraid to code out ASD as I didn't mind the fake sound because without it I assume its way too quiet, as the least the ASD gives me something

Believe me, you'll come to appreciate the ASD being off. There are several threads on this, it will make the (severely lacking) factory audio system sound better. And if you do add aftermarket audio, you have to turn off ASD.

Ok, making the audio system sound better definitely sounds worth it...

Honestly just buy a CSZ exhaust it will come with controllers and probably be cheaper?

I want to avoid having to deal with a separate controller. I'd prefer the factory ecu to still control it all.

Where are you located? I am taking off my comp exhaust and installing a new one in the next few weeks. I have no space for it and would be willing to let it go for cheap.

This and a valve controller did wonders for the overall sound. I installed the amp from Audiotec Fischer with Focal speakers, deactivated ASD and programmed the valve controller to my home link buttons. It sounds great!

You can use the stock wiring to controller the CSZ actuators. Or you can use their controller. Plug and play.

I wired the valves open on my 23 X3M and 24 X5M with steel zip ties. 10-15 min, free and if I can do it anyone can.

By any chance can you snap a couple of pics? I looked at pics of it and dont know how you ran the zip ties to keep them open. Also, how long have you been running it like this? Does it force the motors open while the zip tie is holding the valve open? Will it cause the motors to burn out?

thanks

Just had a 2 level lower lumbar fusion so a bit hard to get under there right now. There’s a bunch of instructional threads on it. I disconnected the motor by just unplugging it and sealed up the connectors. My X3M has been going on 2 years and the X5M 1 year. Hard to believe but the X3M is a lot louder on cold start.

Just take a peek under there and I think it will all make sense. Like I said, if I can do it anyone can. In fact, my 13yo helped me with it.

Eek! sorry to hear, thats a ruff surgery, make sure you thank your orthopedist for it.
Ah so you opened them then disconnected the motors, that makes more sense.
