PSA - M Performance carbon fiber mirror cap cost reduced significantly

FYI the cost of OEM M Performance carbon mirror caps has dropped to a more reasonable level of $375-400 per side, depending on the retailer. GetBMWParts has them for $376.61 at the moment.

Recall that the old price was 1k EACH, which is off the charts ridiculous and not in line with the cost of any other model line. For comparison - check BMWPartsPros.com who still has the old price of $1k each.

Hopefully this is the start of more price reductions on M Performance parts, as there is some serious price gouging going on!!

I could not agree with you more. Price gouging this deep for OEM CF bits is beyond excessive. The pricing structure that some are using goes well beyond what the market should be baring and that's a substantial understatement. Glad to see that some sources are dropping their prices to more reasonable levels so more of use actually obtain these items.

It's about time. Though $375 a piece is still ridiculous.

The option for CF mirror caps is 1550 on a 22 X3 MC according to my window sticker. I agree it’s insane but mine came off the showroom floor so I didn’t have an option.

Been wanting these. Had them on my F80 and it really gave it a nice look (albeit matched the CF roof). Ordered a set from www.getbmwparts.com. Too bad they now charge tax in Texas.

Can you post the direct link or correct part number? The bmwpartspro has both left mirrors. The $331 is slightly different and I think it’s for the non m models? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. I’m hoping they marked down the $1000 ones because I’m ready to pull the trigger on these.

$1000 one is part (51-16-8-077-001)

The one for $331$ (Part Number: 51-16-2-337-577)

These (51-16-8-077-001, 51-16-8-077-002) have come way down in pricing from BMW lately, so we've adjusted our online pricing accordingly!

Just a friendly PSA - due to the supply chain and pandemic issues - parts are taking around 4 - 8 business days to arrive to us from BMW instead of the normal 2 - 3. (although this lead time has been decreasing lately and is expected to get back to normal within the next few weeks - fingers crossed) We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during these crazy times.

No, these fit exactly as the black OE caps fit, they are exactly like them also being OE parts, just CF instead of gloss black.

I replaced my clear lens OE turn signals with these, so they appear as black when off (they are bright like the OE, not nearly as dark as in the video):

You do have to take the mirror apart, but it's not that tough and there are several videos on how to do it. Took an hour total to do both sides...
