No more m40i builds

Has anyone managed to get a build slot for an x3 m40i recently? Tried today but dealer has sold the last one and won’t have anymore until the new model is out.

Impossible for your dealer to know as allocations for July have not been released. Those allocations will be released in the last week of May/first week of June.

I ordered in late March with expected 8-12 week delivery. It got to the dealer last week. “The fastest we’ve seen since pre Covid”. I’m sure there are more out there in the months to come.

Why don't you want to wait for the new model?

Not all dealers get the same amount of allocations. Are you sure that another dealer won’t have an allocation available?

The guy I normally go to tends to have the best deals in the country for m lites. I expect the new model will have the flat screen dash which I’m really not a fan of. Going to head to the dealer by work today and see if they’ve got a slot and if so what price they’re knocking off.

I have a dilemma if order G01 (if it's not to late, as it take ages for local dealer to give the answer)
or wait for G45.
But with my 60k km yearly I am targeting 4.0d, however there is no info if G45 4.0d will be in the offer in EuroKolkhoz

Tony Lewis at Berry ?

I also don’t like the new style dash display, looks cheap and nasty imo. I compared new cars at a BMW dealer, and the older gen interior looked better in terms of design and quality.

The UK allocation will be different to other markets such as the US, not least because UK ICE G01 are made in South Africa.

From what I’ve read, I’d doesn’t look like the 40d will be an engine offered at launch, but may come some time later.

1) First year of production almost always guarantees an increase in quality issues.
2) Forces a thermal runaway-susceptible lithium ion battery as part of the hybrid powertrain on either the 4 or the 6. 2024 was last chance to avoid that.
3) Reason #2 is enough to also be #3

Reason #2 doesn’t even make my list. Not that thermal runaway isn’t an issue with batteries, but it’s not spontaneous unprovoked combustion. I’d classify it in the same respect as oh, I don’t know, carrying around a tank of flammable liquids in my car.

But yeah, if I’m in an accident you best believe I’m getting far away from my lion battery. I’ve seen Richard Hammond’s crash.

Actually, it can be spontaneous as in these cases and several others reported. A battery engineer colleague won’t park any Lithium ion battery vehicles in his garage, only accepting LFP for now and we’re looking forward to solid state, as the Chinese are launching in production next year. It’s not at all comparable to a gas tank, which doesn’t propagate its own oxygen during combustion and can be extinguished. Check some professional fire fighter websites to get their POV.

Howdy! I'm new here, but just placed an order with my local dealer on Wednesday 4/24 and got the confirmation email from BMW yesterday. I have been informed that I am in production week 12, which corresponds to the week of May 12. Expected to be here in Minnesota by the end of May. I'm excited!

So you were able to order a 2024 X3 M40i? Any discount off MSRP?

I placed an order in late February for a late March allocation. Was able to negotiate ~8% of MSRP and I take delivery tomorrow

Once you're able to find an allocation, there is definitely some negotiation in price that will get you some % off.

8% is amazing! I tried for a discount on a 2025 X6 M40i and I was told sorry no discount.

There’s probably less incentive for the dealer to discount 2025 models. Also, I’ve heard that X6s are tough to get big discounts on.

I went to the dealer yesterday to consider trading in my 2023 X4 M40i for a 2025 X6 M60i. However, the trade-in values were dismal, and there was no discount offered on the X6.

I've been watching the trade values drop month over month on my X3 M40i. There are two forces at work I think; a poor used car market and we're trying to trade a model that's essentially no longer in production. Bad combination.

There are some good deals out there if you’re willing to travel. We are purchasing a new M40i this Tuesday. Between the Military discount and dealer discount we are getting just over 10% of sticker. It’s a 5hr drive but worth it. Pics next week.

The bad news - no discount.

The good news - Jen4BMW stays on this thread :-)

That's correct. I was told I got the last remaining production allocation, but who knows if that was correct or just dealer speak. I was also told no discount on the ones ordered direct from BMW (same thing I heard from our other local dealer when I was working with them to potentially get an X6 earlier this month). I was OK with that. I had been looking at one or two x3 M40i models they had on the lot, which they were willing to negotiate on, but they had options on them I didn't want and were not colors I liked, so I was OK paying full MSRP to get precisely what I wanted in terms of colors and options. The MSRP configured how I wanted was below the price they were offering me for the ones already in stock, so I am happy.
