actually, it hasn't changed from stock tires. b4 the swap, odometer was off about 1 mph. after the swap of tires, it's still off about 1 mph.

-JLT-, thanks so much for the info! I would have thought that since the diameter changed due to 40% of 285mm sidewall now vs 40% of 265mm sidewall before, but good to hear that it's the same amount off lol; cool.

285mm is the width, not sidewall. sidewall is same ratio at 40.

I asked exactly this a couple pages earlier. Didn't really get an explanation from the OP other than him saying he 'heard it was ok' and taking his chances.

Pretty confused as well, would like to know as I'm considering tire options now for my M40i

The F90 M5 has a similar setup with 10mm wider rear tyres stock with the same aspect ratio so they are slightly taller. However the winter spec can be either the same size front and rear, or 20mm different front and rear but still with the same aspect ratio.

As the systems are pretty much the same between the X3M and M5 I'm guessing that running the same size to 20mm wider at the rear will be fine. I wouldn't go to 30mm different at the rear with the same aspect ratio but 255/40r21 and 295/35r21 would give you an acceptable difference in size so that'd probably be my preference actually!

Many more options of type of tire if I'm able to adjust the stagger size beyond the exact OEM sizing

JLT, any issues with traction / handling with the All Season tires?

I'm sure handling isn't as good as max performance tires but I'm in Chicago so it's not like I'm canyon carving or anything. I drive pretty aggressive and feel a little less traction and road noise ... but as temperature gets colder and snow comes, these all-season will handle much better than the hockey puck max performance tires.

I see, makes sense.

All seasons harden as well (not as much as summers of course), so maybe slight decrease in traction is due to colder temperatures? Did you get to drive on them while it was still warm outside?
