Did you get a deal at all for the BMW trackstar off BMW direct? My local dealer offers it at £399 but there's some local places offering it at £199-250.

Swapped from LV on the X4 M40i to Axa on the X4M and it dropped about £140 with a tracker fitted, only about £100 a year more than my Mini JCW. Chose the BMW Trackstar option and they wouldn’t budge on the £399 installation cost

Aviva didn't, never have done on any of my M cars, the only time I had to have one was with Porsche insurance on a 911.
You'd be surprised though I see plenty of threads with people wanting to put them on regardless of the insurer.

AVIVA insisted on one for me (very low crime area), but I just did my annual renewal and I ended up going with AVIVA Plus (which seems like a separate company) and they did not - so that was £800 wasted (fitting + 3 years subscription). Totally agree with you - WTF would I fit one unless my insurance depended on it - it's their problem - not to mention that even if the thieving c***s get caught they just get a slap on the wrist ..

I had to use the full list price as my insurance do new for old on Brand new cars if full loss within the first year.
My advice would be ask your insurance company. |

I always thought it didn't matter what value you put too much because they only pay the current value anyway, so for an x3m it would be ~£60k as that's what they are selling at.
It changes the policy cost by £100 between list and invoice prices |

Oh and also, using list price, esure are insisting on a tracker. Invoice price, no tracker required! Think they have a 75K limit where you must have a tracker for value above this level

reviving this thread.
I have come to renewal (post a vehicle change), and there seems to be a significant uptick in the cost of insuring this car. Another year of no claims discount (up to 6 now), increased to 820 from 719 or something on a like for like basis (e.g. adjusting for changing my car from a x3m40d to the x3mc). Thats roughly an increase of 15%! Car is now more expensive to insure than my recent c63 amg. Fair enough, my mrs. has 2 non fault claims in the past 3 years as a named driver, but insurers informed me no increase in premium for these items. Took her off and still more or less the same. I know there have been a few high profile accidents in these cars but i think people may be in for a shocker at renewal....unless its just my area |

Well it's just as powerful and due to awd just as fast as a new C63s and more expensive so I guess it would be.

Guys what is your opinion about trackers. I bought a BMW F800GT and I really fear theft, especially since I don't have a garage and the my motorbike is parked in the street. The seller recommended me to check out https://monimoto.com/uk/ or something similar. But I personally have never encountered this. How do you think it is worth investing in this or limiting yourself to insurance?

Fully understood but my point is the x3mc is now much more expensive to insure then it was a few months back. Premiums on this particular vehicle have been driven up. I remember when I insured it firstly back in Dec (changing the car on the policy from an x3m40d) I actually got money back AND they didn't have many details about the car so they had to do a manual underwrite (direct line). Guess they now have more appropriate data. Does not seem right that it's cheaper to ensure then an m40d, regardless of safety features.
