Never heard any brake noise from them. I still can't speak to how they will perform long term, but for the price I see no downside so far.

Ok thanks. I just looked at my oem pads and the backing plate looks thicker than previous generations of M Sport brakes. Did you notice if your new pads have the same thickness backing plates?

I initially bought EBC red stuff pads because they listed a pad that would fit our M sport brakes, but they were completely different (this was when there was almost no aftermarket option listed). So when I got these pads I studied them to make sure they looked identical before installation. I believe I paid more attention to overall thickness including pad, but I honestly can't remember that far back and I threw out my OEM pads so I can't compare them now. I'm pretty sure the new pad was identical backing plate thickness or close enough to the naked eye.

How big of a percentage decrease in brake dust vs OEM?

Before the Pandemic, I would wash my car once every 2 weeks. I don't have much experience specifically with the X3 pads (I used the stock brake pads for 200 miles before replacing brake pads and wheels). Compared to every other BMW I've owned, my wheels would be caked with brake dust by then. These, I notice almost nothing.

If you're familiar with EBC red stuff (created a little brake dust on my M240i) and Akebono (almost no brake dust on my E90 and E92), these compare more to the Akebonos.

I checked today with Akebono and still they do not yet make a pad for the M40i. Frustrating! Cannot wait for the day when they do.

I've run Akebono pads on my X5 and Z71 Suburban for 14 years...would use nothing but.

Darn! That is what they said several months ago. I am sure product development is about zero the last few months?

That's my thinking as well. In Jan 2019, I checked with Akebono management and they said it was on their horizon but that they were behind in new product launches. Now, 16 months later, still nothing. I'm sick of cleaning brake dust off these wheels, while my Suburban wheels are spotless.

well that's interesting. I'm saddened by the response from akebono listed in the other thread.... I've been waiting. Guess I'll search for another. I dont'd mind centric, but not my ideal

You cant have it all with brakes unfortunately. Its the same doosh chill i get when ppl complain of noise on their carbon ceramic brakes...
Fake news. Power Stop are great pads and only people that have never tried ceramic pads create fake fear about using them.

The brake dust from OEM pads is not brake pad dust. It’s brake caliper dust from the semi-metallic pads wearing away your rotors. Changing the ceramic also greatly extends the life of your rotors. Silly not to use ceramic pads. I have put them on everything from my Lamborghini, to my Range Rover to my stretch limo with zero problems and lots of benefits.

Stop fake news!

I replaced the OEM AMG pads on my Mercedes SL with Power Stop ceramic pads. They reduced the dust by 90%, with no reduction in street braking performance and with no noise. I highly recommend them.

Thanks guys for speaking on Power Stop breaks.

My question is, do you know the difference between power stop Z23 and Z17 ceramic compound? I have been doing some research but cannot find much on the net.

When you run the Power Stop ceramic on your Lambo or other cars, do you know which composite was Power Stop using? Z16?Z23? Other?

Z23 has embedded carbon fiber for greater braking without more dust or damage to the rotors. not sure the difference in the 23 and 26 though, seems identical from the description. I'm after either the 26 or 23 myself. I can't find any retailer that has them listed so I sent a email to powerstop for clarity on if they even make them or if they only exist as line items in their catalog.

I have the same questions regarding Z17, Z23 or Z26 Power Stop pads for 2019 X3 M40i. Any insight from those who have made this change on their X3 M40i of any other similar vehicle.

Got a response from powerstop. They only have the Z16 and Z17 available for our car at this time. the Z23 and Z26 are coming, but are not released yet. He was going to see about a release date and get back to me, but I kinda doubt we'll get a follow-up. So, get Z16 from amazon, z17 from rock auto, or wait if you want the Z23 or Z26 for our cars. I'm going to wait and get either 23 or 26.

Why the webpage shows Z23 and Z26 are available for 2019 x3 if you select this as vehicle?
