HELP! 2013 Broken driver side mirror part
Hi I have a 2013 x3 35i, and yesterday I found my car with the driver side outside mirror holding to the car just by the wires. I was able to put it back with a tie warp. To fix it my garage have to order the complete part (without the cover and the mirror wich are fine) and just the part is 855$ canadian. Does anybody know a cheaper fix, is it possible just to the part that make the rotation of the miror possible (that's the broken part). Thanks for your help
The miror has also the camera |

Not sure how high your insurance deductible is but it's probably going to be a complete mirror assembly replacement.

Possible Solution
I have the same issue, mirror hanging off, never been hit, in private covered car park. CCTV showed nothing went near the car... I think this is the part we are all looking for: http://www.hongmei.com.tw/shop/side-...for-bmw-x1-x3/.
I've sent two emails but no response, I have the feeling they may be wholesalers (i.e. need to order 1,000!). I continue to search as I really don't want to pay for a complete mirror replacement for the sake of a small part like this. Shame on BMW for simply demanding we replace the whole unit, not exactly in line with your Sustainability Objectives. Last edited by studavis; 09-01-2020 at 06:06 AM.. Reason: add pic |

Just got a reply from the website (http://www.hongmei.com.tw/shop/side-...for-bmw-x1-x3/).
Just need to make 100% sure its the correct part. hope this might help others in the future, still can't understand how/why this happened, can only think of metal fatigue or bad material choice. Passenger side (right side) mirror hanging by wires. 2014 BMW X3
I woke up this morning to find the right side mirror hanging down only with the wires holding it on the door. I first thought someone had pushed down on it in order to break it. I was so pissed wondering why anyone would do this... however I came across this thread and realized other people have had this issue. I have read through the posts on this, but I have not seen if anyone has been able to fix this without taking it to a BMW shop. Is the part that has been shown the common fix to this issue? Can anyone please provide more information from their experience? Thank you in advance.
