3M film on radar sensor
I see that my radar sensor takes quite a pounding from bugs etc.
Is it possible to put 3M film on it as protection without impending radar function? |

I don't get what the purpose would be. I'm sure they're built to withstand bugs and other tiny debris. But I'm sure you can just test it out to see how it works then report back to us. If it doesn't work out, then take it off.

It seems to work.
I feel better because the whole thing seems like it is made of hard plastic. |

Hi,
The problem with putting film on the sensor is that it might still work - but not at the right level of sensitivity. This means it might only be functioning at 90 or 95% That could be the difference between avoiding an accident or crashing. I would rather replace a broken sensor (in the unlikely event it gets hit by a stone) than risk having an accident. Cheers Steve

Plastic cover is inexpensive. Radar sensor is NOT!

I hate to be the one to be pointing this out - but if above true maybe I should quickly apply for patent for stealth aircraft. Coat them in 10-20 layers of 3m film?
LMAO :-) |

We also had ACC on our 2006 Honda CRV - snow used to affect the sensor and bring up an error on the display. Car radar is so low powered - compared with combat aircraft!
