Good they change it, I'm still waiting to convince my dealership to change mine too. I should not have gotten the wireless charger option and put my money on parking assist plus which was $700. ;( buyer remorse.

I also found a conversation website here for you: https://www.rapidtables.com/convert/...o-celsius.html So you can go back to the dealer and ask "should I trust the number in F or in C"? In any event, since accumulated heat is the enemy of getting the phone charged properly, do whatever you can to reduce heat. For example, keep the sliding cover open, don't use a phone case if you don't have to, etc. |

Went to the dealer AGAIN on May 5, asking them if they can replace my wireless charger but they refuse to replace it and gave me another print out of the issue.

I had mine replaced. The temp sensor was giving a faulty reading causing the wireless charger to stop charging.

I used a laser thermometer..after driving for 1 hr with AC at 60 degrees inside (91 outside), the WC tray temp was 110...the back of the iPhone 104. I did not shutdown this time, but dang!

My iphone X can get very hot and has shut down multiple times. Sometimes before shutdown it becomes less responsive - can't make calls, etc. All the overheating makes a lot of sense. I use Waze, Carplay, have a case, tend to keep the cover closed, and like open windows instead of A/C. I have started keeping the cover open, and can look into a thinner case. However...
Has anyone tried an option to ACTIVELY COOL the area? I'm thinking about trying a fan - especially when overheated or risk of overheaing. Here is one option. https://www.amazon.com/ELUTENG-Venti...er-Playstation It would be nice if a/c would pass through the compartment, but i guess that would allow heated air as well. Seems like an opportunity for BMW to add some sort of active cooling to the pad and/or the compartment. |

Is this a common issue that dealers should be aware of? My charger always reverts to orange after a few minutes... the built in wireless charger is unusable.

Took a roadtrip a couple weeks back and put my iPhone XS into the wireless charger and it overheated. Had the AC on and the sliding door open so it wasn't very hot in the cabin. It's in a Apple leather case.
Even when it doesn't overheat it doesn't seem to charge it at all (it just maintains the battery where it's at). Terrible charger. Sounds like some dealers are replacing their charging units? Would this fix the issue? |

Just got my X3 30d a week ago. Fully optioned 2017 demo. The wireless charger is the most frustrating thing at the moment. Even when I get a blue light, and vehicle stationary, it will turn red in a minute or 2 (often less than a minute). I have tried every position on the tray with no luck. I use a Samsung S9+. I have tried it both with, and without a case, with no change in results.

I brought my 2018 M40i into the dealer last week to have the backup camera recall reprogramming done and also to fix my wireless charger. Symptom is that it will only charge for about a minute before the blue light turns orange. The device is an iPhoneX with a very thin case. The phone charges wirelessly just fine on two other chargers btw - one on my nightstand, another on my desk and it never feels too hot to me...
Anyway, they ended up keeping the car for 3 days to test it and determined it worked fine with two other iPhones and a Samsung. I asked how long they had tested and the report stated "at least a minute" for each device. Haha - try again guys :-) So after a discussion with the service manager, a new charging tray has been ordered. They are also claiming the parts are backordered from Germany and there is no ETA. Sounds like BS to me, but I'll give them a few weeks to come up with a date before I complain again. |

What makes you think your iPhone 6 supports wireless charging? Apple never said it did... it’s not listed anywhere as supporting it. Apple didn’t add wireless charging to their phones until iPhone 8.

2020 X3 here - no issues, with an iphone xs with a fairly decently thick case that has a credit card slot. i keep two cards in it and the wireless works. the phone gets a bit warm, but charges fine.
