And rumor has it a fire shut down the only plant that made tires for the 7-series way back when. So BMW normally (but not always) dual sources their tires. Btw, very nice writeup.

I've priced up the X3M40 and there is no way anyone gets a stripper X3M40. You certainly won't find one on a lot , and even if you ordered one there is no way you are checking a few boxes. My cheapo build was 58k and every time I roll up and see one at a DFW area dealer it's damn near maxed out at 66k. At which point.. X3M begins just 5k over a loaded M40... In my opinion ... X3MC is totally worth the 7k premium for the damn alcantara/beige seat combo alone |

The MSRP on a similarly equipped X3M with just the "Executive Package" comes out to $73,800. That's almost $10K more. There are a number of brand new 2019 X3 M40i's on Autotrader right now with options for under $60,000 as compared to a "stripper" X3M which is $69,900. Here's an example: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing Don't get me wrong, I think an X3M is a great vehicle for the price, but it's at a different price-point altogether than an X3 M40i. |

thanks ..... but I've been watching X3M40 pricing for awhile now.. especially as the X3M has dropped. Note that the words " Similarly equipped" were NOT used by me. The Base price on the X3M is what it is, and moreover... is darn near within 5K of your purchase, which is what @JLT stated and I agreed with. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 07-23-2019 at 04:29 PM.. |

Congrats and thanks for the write up.
I’m thinking about grabbing one. Currently drive MY17 M3 ZCP. Lease is about to be up in 5 months I believe this might be a good replacement and a change of pace (never owned suv) car guy here. I think this will keep content till the G80 shows up. What do you think since you have or had the F80. Last edited by LukeM15; 08-07-2019 at 10:20 PM.. |

Damn. It’s gorgeous! I’ve seen it in showrooms but haven’t driven it yet. Absolutely stunning! I have some questions- did you look at/consider the m40 as an option? Thoughts on the two of you had to compare pros/cons? I know they’re different cars and the HP isn’t a comparison but just wondering how the m40 stacks up.
I have some questions about the M40i, I’m on a budget (I live in LA ans shi*% is expensive) and able to lease a new 19, loaded (without nav, heated seats, or lane assist for $650 a month with tax with $3k down. Either white with tan or silver with black. Also an option at the dealer is an executive demo fully loaded x4 for $540 a month with tax and $2500 down. I’m a real estate agent saving for a house so every dollar counts. I don’t have clients in the car much so the slopes down roof doesn’t bother me. The x4 m40 is out of my budget unfortunately. I was in a 2019 X2 m that after 6k miles gave me a lot of issues including broken AC, leaky sunroof and stalling, they’re buying the car back. Good experience with the buyback btw. I can’t discuss specifics. Before the x2 I was in a 335 GT which was a great car for me. Call me crazy but I don’t mind the hatchback/slopes roof. I can use the guidance. Thoughts? |

The X3M Comp is beautiful & awesome to drive in my opinion. ...But, it's absolutely a luxury item. The regular X3 & X4 are also luxury items that happen to be less expensive great cars too. Putting myself in the shoes you are describing - money is tight, looking to buy a home and build my career, etc. Getting fancier new car should be at the very bottom of your list. Cars are a terrible use of money! Owning a great home, and having money for good food and vacations is way more fulfilling over time than sacrificing for a car. If the X2 works for you - hold out as long as you can. There's always cooler new stuff around the corner. If you're at the end of a lease or something that necessitates a change, get the least expensive one that makes you happy and checks the most boxes. j |

man this is a good writeup. Makes me think about trading in my X5 M50i for the X3M Comp.
I do love the F15 a lot though, and with less than $5K in mods it gets the power of an X5M.
