Perfectly safe to set it at 54mph for a 50 zone and 76mph for the 70 zone on the M25. That way you'll pass all those drivers who believe their speedo is indicating the true speed, bless!

OR..........could it be a button for a CD player? (Even though my car does NOT have a CD player)

Thanks
My OCD would kick in and make me push it. In fact now I have to check to see if I have one.

This youtube video really does a great job explaining all the B58 engine models and their differences. It can be a little confusing though.

if you're referring to the tiny little nub that looks like it might be a button -its not... I assume its just sensor for something. You can safely push on it - it doesnt do anything

Picked up my X3-M40i today and was surprised it doesn't have fog lights. My wife's 2021 X3 M Sport has them. Are these a option ?

I just got my 2022 X3 a few months ago and half the time I drive it, my phone keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every 10-15 seconds to the point where I just disconnect entirely and don't use apple CarPlay or my music. I took it to the dealership and they basically just advised me to run the latest software on my phone and reset the head unit. This seemed to fix it for a day but then it was back to usual. I'm so frustrated with this but I don't know what else I can do. Is anyone having this issue? Is there anything I can do to help prevent it from disconnecting?

Carplay connects to your phone via wifi. Are you using the wifi on your phone for any other purpose?

Well no, I only use my phone for music while in the car. What do you mean? Sorry I don't think I understood

Is that the only option, or is there a wired (USB?) option?

Your iPhone connects to the car via wifi (like if you were at home). Some people use their phone's wifi to connect to a hotspot or something else. Just wanted to be sure you weren't turning off wifi or having it connected to something else.

If that's not the case, then there might be something else going on. Just wanted to rule that out as a first check.

You can play music via Bluetooth and/or USB with your phone, but AFAIK, CarPlay itself can only be connected via wifi in the X3/X4. Someone correct me if I am mistaken.

This is correct. CarPlay is via WiFi only… USB only charges… even without wifi, I believe Music is thru BT, not the USB. (I guess technically, you could turn off your BT and connect via USB and see if it will still use it as music player… I'm guessing it would).

Next dumb question, if I may - using the adaptive cruise control in traffic. When the car in front slows to a stop my car will do the same. When the car in front drives off, it seems to be random whether my car will follow on its own or will wait for me to tap the accelerator.

It doesn't seem to depend on the length of time standing still. Any insights?

Actually, BMW use a combination of Bluetooth and wi-fi for Carplay. Drop-out and connection problems with Carplay can be due to either. For music only Bluetooth is used or wired via usb. If car is using WiFI hotspot facility then will clash with Carplay and is recognised issue. Sometimes car will connect Bluetooth and and not WiFI which has to be reset, this is a known issue.

BMW connected drive specifically state that Bluetooth and WiFI have to be activated/active for Carplay connections. Bluetooth alone does not have sufficient bandwidth to support the more data hungry apps.

Does Spotify on the car app interface require a phone connection, or is it via the car sim, or can it be either ?

Are you able to test this with a different phone? Pair a different phone to your X3, and use that for a day or so. If you have the same problem, then go back to the dealer as there's obviously then a problem with the car itself.

If the new phone works OK without disconnecting regularly, then the problem seems to be with your phone. Maybe reset it back to factory settings, and set it all up again?

Ok good idea. I'll try it with my husband's phone for awhile and see how that works. We've had his connected before and I don't remember it having the same issue but we've only used it for short periods. Hopefully not a phone issue but we'll see 🤞🏼thank you!

Spotify subscription via connected drive app will work through car internal sim, so no mobile necessary. Internal sim provides data/connection for iDrive apps, S.O.S, concierge system, nav updates etc and if you buy subscription also WiFI hotspot. If you run Spotify via your phone using Carplay or android auto then it will use phone sim for data.

Ohhhhhh now that just PISSES me off. Now that the OP has raised this for sure I will obsess over this when I get mine :-/

Like the dude who mentioned the seat rattle when you first get in. Never noticed it until that came up.

Life, don't talk to me about life ...
Holy hell!!! YOU MEAN OTHERS HAVE THAT DAMN SEAT RATTLE WHEN THEY FIRST HOP IN TOO??!! Drives me insane!! But dealer couldn't replicate and I knew right away it was something I'd just have to live with. A special quirk of my X4 so to speak. Not sure if I'm happy or sad others have this too… 🤷🏻*♂️
Lol. I can be replicated and it can definitely be fixed (I had my dealer fix both seats). Just push the seat hard underneath the headrest and you'll hear / feel it, it's how I showed my dealer and the test we did to prove it was fixed.

Had to fix it, drove me crazy every time I got in the car.
