I don't hear a drone at all when at motorway speeds so I'd say it's fine.

Weather has been rancid today so couldn't even put my toe down after the RIS :
Great will give it a try where are the fuses ?
In the boot, right hand side. Lift out the small compartment and then behind the sound proof material

This link creates handy pdf for the fuses.

FYI, this is everything set to Sport Plus and the ASD/Exhaust button enabled on my X4M. In the log you can see right after WOT it adjusts the flap.

Okay, so I pulled the 7.5A fuse from the right side of the trunk after putting it in Sport+ and blipping the gas. Sounds so much better in every mode now.

The computer still states the exhaust flap is closed during start up, but definitely not closed in any setting now.

There are two CELs, but they thankfully do not display in the gauge cluster.

Oriented below fuse box to actual orientation on X4M.

Pulled the fuse today. Can confirm there is quite a noticeable difference in sport +. Never realized how often the valve actually closed. Sounds great all the time now. Yes, there is some drone but the rest of that glorious exhaust sound overshadows that.

When my 2021 X3 M Comp is done being built, this is going to be one of the very first things I do to it.

No loss of power on the top end ? I remember one of the Audi guys said there was loss of power in the RS3 after doing a similar mod.

Just pulled 203 and it's noticeably louder, particularly upshifts under full throttle low down the rev range.

Can't notice any drop in top end power but it's nearly snowing here and my Michelin's are almost end of life.

Too cold to have the windows down for long too haha

To keep the valves open:

- Start and put in Sport +
- Blip throttle to open
- Crawl under and unplug both actuators

They will remain in their last position until hooked back up.

You can buy a connector plug (or just seal the end up with tape) to keep dirt from getting it it, then just zip tie harness out of the way.

UPDATED:

Found plug blanks for the actuators

https://www.wildwext.com/search?cont...8;s=7549032-02

I've done this on my M2 and X3M
Why do all of that though? Isn't easier to just press the + when you turn the car on? Just seems like a lot of work to keep valves open all the time.

Fair, but I like the customization of my car. Sometimes I’m not in a sport/sport+ kind of mood. Sometimes I just want the steering tighter, or the suspension, or I’m content with efficient maybe with a step up on the trans.

However, I get bored with the lack of sound in the stock valve configuration every once and a while. So, I pull the plug and get a little more sound. But after a few weeks I’ll miss the ability to quiet it up when pulling in the garage late at night and I’ll put the fuse back in. The great thing is it takes like 3 mins, so it’s not really a big deal.

And yes, I could buy an after market exhaust or blah blah, but I’m really trying to just keep this thing family road trip friendly. Just a family whip...

What app are you using that has exhaust flap status?

Is the exhaust fuse, F203, confirmed to be the same fuse for the 2021 models?

I read that the ASD fuse is different or does not work on the 2021 models, so checking if the exhaust flaps are the same.

Interesting. Read through the manual. It'll say what fuse does what. Then post here. Mine was 2020 X4M.

I have a 2021 X3MC build 11/20. Can anyone confirm that bimmercode ASD off is in fact off? I haven't tried pulling fuse 218 based on the comment above about the ASD fuse different in 2021 or not working.

I did set Sport+ on, started car and pulled fuse 203. The exhaust button doesn't activate the flaps anymore nor does disabling Sport+ mode

Not sure on the Bimmercode ASD off coding, but I know there is another thread on the ASD. As you read through it you will see they changed the 2021 setup, so it is not a simple fuse pull or connector unplug.

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showt...&highlight=ASD

Thank you for confirming the exhaust flap fuse still works for 2021.

You can always add a EVC Module, which also allows you to make additional changes and can be done in the steering wheel. I took mine off before selling my 2015 M4, free if anyone interested or know anyone who would want it.
