I have an X3 M40 on order (pick up at the PDC June 6th) and I'm not at all concerned about the ASS. Why, because I have an LCI G30 with the same drive train and the ASS is seamless and barely noticeable. Works way better than the non-mild hybrid models. If the motor actually stops, which it doesn't always do, it restarts when I lighten pressure on the brake. It doesn't wait for me to hit the gas. Of course, if I'm parking or doing some tight maneuvering. I just move the shift lever to the left. I definitely don't see it as a problem.

That^ is the honest truth, mine ended on the second from last hash mark and my M40i arrived at the dealership, it just gives you a vague idea, especially at the end of order/wait. The best thing to do is bug the crap out of your sales associate, they have more accurate info to give you. Remember: "bug the hell out of them."

That is where mine stopped...I was taking screen shots just for fun!

My 2020 has 36k miles and is probably the perfect SUV for the enthusiast. Really no competition in its class for the performance value it provides.

Negatives:
- Wish i can have M seats
- Suspension is very stiff over poor roads (i have passive M susp and 20in wheels)

I've had my '23 M40i about 6 weeks and 1100 miles. First, the car is super quick and has a near perfect launch, getting out in front of traffic with this car is really a fun experience and I'm barely on the throttle.

Build Quality: is top notch, no rattles, vibrations, or any other noises are heard while driving. My car does not have the driver side wind noise, got lucky there.

The myBMW App integrates nicely with the car and offers some excellent features when compared to the "shit-show" App that came with an Audi car I own. Recently the myBMW App has been upgraded and works on the Apple Watch if you have your iPhone close at hand. Is it redundant, probably so, but a cool feature non-the-less.

Handling and Ride: the M40i is capable and can carve some nice lines through twisty roads with ease, much better than I thought. Once the RFTs wear out and normal performance tires are installed I imagine the handling and ride dynamics will improve. The car is quite capable with RFTs but they are hard and do not allow much sidewall flex when pushing the car beyond or to the 80 to 90 percent threshold. I'm really talking about pushing the car hard into turns, it's very satisfying, cannot imagine how good it will be with some performance tires.

Fuel Economy: Well, it's beyond good, much better than expected for a vehicle of this weight and power.

Exhaust Sound: this area needs some work, maybe a resonator delete or performance cat-back or full exhaust. The M40i in stock configuration really has limited sound and that is a shame.

Electronics: Everything works as designed, the combination touchscreen and controller are really good. I use the touch screen while parked if I need some quick access to the menus, and the dial controller while driving, it's a smart and well designed system.

Design and road appeal: The M40i is one of the best looking cars on the road and the attention it garners proves that point every time it's driven.

Conclusion: The M40i is superb, fun to drive, and just needs a couple things added to exploit its character, an exhaust and some high performance tires, it will then be complete.

Living in a sea of KiA, Hyundai, Lexus, Ford, and Chevy SUVs, this smartly designed super quick little BMW is easily the best of the aforementioned products. I'm more than pleased with my purchase.
I love mine, but I don't think it gets a bit of attention compared to anything else on the road.

That’s not a bad thing. I’m coming from a hellcat with stripes lol, it’s the opposite. Couldn’t drive down the street without someone asking questions, asking to race, or looking to steal it … gets kind of old , just want to be left alone sometimes… this m40 is kind of a sleeper which is nice.

I’m obviously a tad biased but I like the BG X3 M40 over the M3.

M3 is hideous so that’s not really a fair comparison lol

What color interior did you get with the white? I’m looking at Alpine White with Tacora Red. The red seems “neutral” enough IMO.

I personally really like the red interior. It isn’t too loud vs other car manufacturers’ red interiors. It’s a very cool color and would look awesome with BG or AW. I was sooo close to switching from black to red but wanted the ventilated seats - not sure if that’s a mistake for comfort but it’s a lease so I guess I’ll find out.

If you haven’t seen the red in person, I would highly recommend you see what it looks like for yourself so you’re comfortable with whatever you order.

Cheers!

The ASS function sucks and it’s by far the single worst thing about my 2022 X3 M40i. Nothing is seamless in COMFORT MODE.

Pop it in Sport or flip the shifter to the left and the X3 M40i is brilliant. Beyond brilliant actually.

Agreed,I plan on coding it to start on sport , probably individual with comfort settings , this should solve the problem or at least seems the best workaround so far , unless it can be coded to off like my sons m340, that would be best case

It is the best bang for buck suv in my opinion. It was between the X3 M40i and a Macan GTS, I picked the M40i and I love it, perfect size, love everything about the car.
