UK - Premium diesel cheaper than regular petrol

Just noticed Costco Premium Diesel is now cheaper than its regular unleaded petrol, which is already some of the best value fuel in the UK.

Great prices if you can get it, the cheapest premium diesel that I can get is from BP/Shell at around £1.55 per litre….but it’s certainly encouraging to see the prices drop.

In Finland diesel is usually cheaper. But in this week for some reason even 98 was cheaper than diesel. Very unusual..

Local Tesco near me (Shoreham West Sussex) was £1.44 diesel, £1.45 95 Unleaded on Friday.

Another Tesco was £1.38 diesel a few weeks ago, but that only lasted a day or so.

Premium diesel here in CZ can be bought at like $1.40, whereas regular petrol (Super) $1.70 per liter

Does Tesco offer premium diesel ?

Costco only sell premium diesel with an additive package. Usually premium diesel cost around 10p/l more than regular.

No worries, just figured if Costco premium diesel was cheaper than regular it was worth a punt. Need to factor in membership fees but that’s usually covered by other savings.

Interesting. I can’t even remember when diesel was less expensive than regular gas in the US. Maybe 2007? Lol.

Edit: some quick googling says 2004.

I dont think so. I think it is not even legal to sell winter diesel after May or something.

Last week in Narberth West Wales Standard Diesel £1.29 Unleaded £1.33, unfortunately my tank was nearly full, also I did not have the time to join the very long queue !!

Sorry, avi66 I did not mean to hijack your thread, but at £1.29 it was reported that it was the cheapest Diesel in the UK

I believe the Saudi’s are about to cut back oil production by over 1m bpd, so I assume the price will rise again soon.

The owners of the garage said that they had new bigger fuel tanks from 4000 litres to 16000 litres, they can now achieve lower pricing from their suppliers, this garage is only approx 20 or so miles away from the refinery in Milford Haven.

I live just outside Carmarthen and I am paying £1.359 per litre the cheapest it's been for a long time, I have heard yesterday that Saudi Arabia are cutting back on their production so the price will certainly rise in the near future.

USA has offer to Venezuela to repair its production capacity. Venezuela wants the spilled oil removed as part of the agreement. Maracaibo and the adjacent lake are highly contaminated due to neglected oil lines.

I used to do business with them at their HO, great product range and super prices, our local store close about 10 years ago through lack of support
