Power wise they will be identical. Now any differences of how they put the power down... that is different, although I would think acceleration would be identical as well.

Surely their best option would be to offer a pre-order and once x amount of pre-orders are reached, start sending out the tune? That way they can guarantee an income of x before other tuners can get their hands on it.

The current stance seems to come across as they'd rather make no money than some money.

This is the reason I sent my email in to them to get on whatever “list” they have. They’re probably gauging interest in a preorder. But still - all that work to crack the code and they’re hesitant to release it and make some money? What if Bootmod cracks the code tomorrow? Demand evaporates.

I’m still following the Mission Performance saga over on the Bimmerpost board.

From what I can see BMW uses Tricorn Bosch MEVD and MG1 ECUs. So what does our F97 come with? MP says they’re concentrating on the MG1 so there will be an even longer delay to crack the other ECUs which that board suggests include cars like the M2

Very frustrating that the ECU seems to be unlocked but because of some sort of infighting among computer hackers the product won’t be released until some sort of mythical conditions are met.

So I have to ask - if other companies are going to offer 21+ tunes then what did Mission Performance accomplish with their ransom demands? Now they have competition whereas they didn’t before. Seems a poor business model

Jordan is his own in-house tuning. DME needed to bench flash.

New RK Tune video. More questions than answers. Doesn’t even sound like he unlocks the DME. He just puts his own tune on the DME after a third party unlocks it. No idea what sort of gains we’re talking about. Definitely sticking with piggyback until we have more feedback and I can flash by laptop

FWIW

My summary
1) don’t expect obd flash anytime soon
2) if you go this route your DME is going far away (probably Russia) and is tuned with what appears to be an OTS map written by a tuning company (ie RK or Mission)
3) your DME comes back locked and any dealership updates will wipe out the tune and you have to go through the process again

Hard pass. I’m happy with my Racechip and once we have a flash I can do in my garage in my jammies, then I’ll look into it
