Ignore schmee’s Lisp for a minute and listen to how detailed and knowledgeable he is of the car he is reviewing. The same can’t be said for Mr. let me floor it in 5th gear and complain that the car is slow and has lag. Name one car that you can floor it in 5th gear that has pistons and will just take off. His buddy then complains that you can feel every nuance and detail in the road, isn’t that the whole point? They do nothing but hate on the S58 engine, but then say that it will be great in the next M3. I guess the 5th gear lag will go away, because it’s the M3. I rather listen to Schmee recite the alphabet than these two anyday.

OK, I watched the video and no.. it's not going to make me buy the 4.0i over the M comp.

BUT... The real question here is.. Can you code those Alpina gauges in an X3M?? Not saying I would.. but man those look nice.

Just watched this entire video and the bias and dislike for the X3M is evident.

The suspension is nowhere near as bad as they make it out to be

However, the nonexistent low down TQ and lag is definitely there. Every time I drive this thing I can’t help but to feel a bit frustrated and disappointed with this S58 in real world scenarios. Below 2.5-3K RPM there is zero power.

I don’t live next to an Autobahn or track so for me revving it past 4-5 grand just to get going quickly can be quite annoying.

I understand what most people say about the suspension but it's not like the M40i is that soft for an SUV and I'm sure BMW made the suspension stiffness the way it is as the X3M weighs around 4400-4500 pounds.

given the M3 will weigh a significant amount less than X3M, and the fact the gearing will be completely different, I doubt there will be lag
