What do you mean by xDrive "mode"? Like MDM/ESC off? I was in 4WD Sport/MDM mode for this. Throttle was Sport+/Comfort/Comfort and D3.

Another 500 miles give or take. I am excited to try the LC.

Yes, that's what I was wondering.

Why would BMW create an engine with virtually zero power under 2000-3000RPM? The low down torque in an AWD+500HP SUV is what I was looking forward to the most. On my test drive I could not floor it, etc as it was a new car with 5 miles on it.

Mine now has 500 miles and I have been playing around with it trying to keep it under 5500rpm. But just flooring it or easing into it takes a solid 2-3 seconds of lag before it even goes past 3K RPM.

F80 had too MUCH power off the line for a RWD that made full torque at 1200-1500RPM. This AWD + ZF auto has no torque at all.... This may be the issue down the line that will make me end up selling/trading for something else.
Thanks for your honest feedback. Yeah, I'm going to keep my X5M until BMW provides some decent 2020 X5 M50i incentives (maybe Holiday Cash). The X5M is overkill for my wifey, but I still need something beastly for when I drive her car. But in all honestly, an X5 40i would suit her needs just fine. I still have my SMB M3CS to feed my need!

I know what you mean, the other half's car also has to have some balls haha.

We are trading in the Raptor for the Model 3 Performance (ordered 5 weeks ago and still no sign of the car).

Just disappointed as I thought a 500+HP, AWD, BMW SUV would be a rocket off of lights and be a fun stable mate to the crazy fast Tesla...but now I am a bit let down. I will wait for break in and hopefully with LC it'll be somewhat quick.

Are you only considering BMW's for the SUV's? For me it was between a TrackHawk, GLC63S and Stelvio QF. I went with the BMW as the all around package.

At your elevation, I would have recommended a V8 TT. The extremely high DA is killing your spool rate.

TrackHawk gets 9-10MPG (the way I drive ) and you're absolutely right. The entire car looks like a $40K Jeep selling for $100 brand new. I used to have a 2017 Hellcat with the 8 speed auto. The engine was torqey and that WHINE was addicting. The FCA quality was noticeable. The center screen would freeze up, smoked on startup, cheaply built. Took a bath and sold it 3k miles later...never again will I own an FCA car. However, it def has the most personality and character.

I was extremely close to buying a white fully loaded Stelvio Quad with the CF Sparco race seats. MSRP was $91K and they were offering me $65K for it as a brand new leftover 2018. I visited the forum and all the owner complaints and issues scared me away. The brand is too new and unsuccessful IMO.

GLC would have been my top choice, super responsive, torque for days, the 4.0L V8 TT sounds insane and the car looks mean. However, new they are going for $95-$100K and lease in the $1600-1700's.

I went with the X3M as I wanted out of my Audi for a multitude of reasons and the having formerly owned TWO F80s, this was the natural choice. The reviews here are saying 0-60 in the 3.5s and high 11 second 1/4 miles @116-118. For $82K brand new. Plus BMW leases are dirt cheap compared to others. Plus this was the newest, shiniest toy out of the mid-size "fast SUV" segment.

The V8TT GLC was $15K more than a similarly equipped X3M and the S only comes in the ugly, coupe version.

I don't think it's that at all. This is not my first twin or single turbo car. My 5 cylinder, single turbo TTRS, two F80 M3's, Focus RS, X135I, 135I, S3, Raptor TT V6 all had turbos and have had zero issues spooling on 91 octane and my altitude.

it's this engines characteristics. I have watched many X3MC YouTube reviews, not to mention all the comments on this forum about the lag. Even IND said there was noticeable lag during daily driving situations.

Because from a roll and above 2.5-3K I can just feel the urgency and there is actually less lag than the Audi had. The TTRS would lag about a second and a half from a 40 roll. This X3MC is immediate! Very, very rapid once rolling. Just wish it had that off the line "kick".

Other weight platforms, engine design, engine displacement, etc etc. will all react differently based on their design goals. Some could have tremendous low end torque, hit fast and hard.....and run 13 second quarter mile passes. A lot of variables at play.

I’ve raced different turbo platforms at high elevation and at sea level. Physics can’t be beaten. Turbos spool faster at sea level due to air density and mass air flow. Just the way it is. Now your other platforms may have spooled fine at your elevation, but take them to sea level and they would hit even harder. So would the X3MC.

I was at Barber Motorsports Track today running the Porsche Turbo S (my favorite), GTS, Carrera, etc. They all spool differently. They all handle differently. Even though it was low 90’s, it would have been a different world at your elevation.

I hate that it’s not working for you.

Fun you should mention the Tesla M3P. My wife and I absolutely loved that thing!! A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed an extended test drive. Talk about torque!! So freaking addicting!!! But for the fact that I am too cheap, and didn't want to leave equity on the table with Tesla only accepting CarMax quotes for trade-ins, we likely would have ordered one. My X5M is currently up for sale here:
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1642997
I'm trying to convince my wife she doesn't need an SUV. Our German Shepherd can fit fine in the back seat. But it's hard for her to let go of the utility.
Other reservations with the Tesla however, was the fit and finish and longevity of the company (more the fit/finish to be honest). I'm very particular about my cars, and the gaps and misaligned panels really would bug me. But it's such a different driving experience.

Bottom line, there really isn't a reason why I need to unload our 2018 X5M, other than our ownership is approaching 15 months and that's when I typically get the itch for something new. I have a feeling once you take delivery of the M3P, and then you drive your X3MC after a while, the X3MC will be up for sale!! BTW, why's it taking so long for delivery of the M3P?

I am actually shocked on how many comments I get on my GLC63s Coupe. It is on a daily basis and so crazy my wife just shakes her head when it happens. The "thumbs Up" occurs even more once I lowered it.

I just don't see any ugliness in it. Now, I did have the GLE 63S Coupe and I thought it was ugly but my wife loved it.

Yours actually looks quite nice. it's a really nice SUV/Coupe. I just wished they offered the actual SUV in "S" guise. My first choice would have been the GLC63S. However, for $95-100K brand new it's almost in an entirely different price bracket than the X3MC (mine was $82.7K)

Plus, with AMG depreciation (would not want to purchase/finance) plus the terrible leases ($1500-1600) I just could not do it. It is 100% the better performer in a straight line, but for $10-15K more, it better be!

Dude, back when I had my f80's I remember you went through two Jag F-type R's and two M3 ZCPs. Your car addiction is worse than mine

I'd honestly just keep the X5M. it's a beast of a car.

I really fell in love with the Model 3 Performance and surprisingly the quality was not bad at all. I was pleasantly surprised. WAY better than the Model X I checked out. It's not perfect but I can look the other way as the drive is so damn good. I honestly HATED Tesla and thought the Model 3 was the ugliest car on the planet. It truly grew on me.

Haha, that's me! Lol
You likely missed my shortest BMW ownership earlier this year with my first Alpine White M3CS which I had for less than a month (didn't even make the 2nd month payment), all bc I had buyer's remorse and wanted a San Marino Blue M3CS. Another crazy lease deal!

Yeah, I probably could get used to the build quality of the M3P. I wasn't initially a fan either, but that all changed after our extended test drive! Haters need to drive it before they talk.

How did you get out of the white M3CS that quickly without taking a huge hit? Yeah, SMB is fire, I'd def do that over a white one. I wanted a CS and was very close to pulling the trigger. I just can't do RWD anymore. Having off the line traction means a lot to me lately. It's just always cold, wet, snowy 7+ months out of the year.

100% agreed. More people need to drive these things. It is very exciting. Sure, I will miss the sound but it's not going to be our only car. I am sure a nice exhaust on the X3MC will fix that

Will be doing some testing on the X3MC and Model 3 Performance once broken in. No drag strips here so, Dragy it is!

Plus, with AMG depreciation (would not want to purchase/finance) plus the terrible leases ($1500-1600) I just could not do it. It is 100% the better performer in a straight line, but for $10-15K more, it better be!
I didn't know the X3M was that inexpensive.

My sticker was 101k but I walked out at 92k.
