Release Date: Available Now!

Description (Cold Air Intake): Consisting of drop in high flow filters and an enormous carbon fiber engine cover, the F97/F98 intake is a straightforward solution to delivering aesthetically enhanced improved air flow.

Despite its unorthodox appearance and seemingly haphazard design forced to fit in limited available space, the OEM intake system is incredibly efficient. Wholesale improvement upon the design given the packaging limitations meant that a full re-design was not going to be feasible at a price point that would be accepted so a simpler more direct approach was taken. Improve air flow in the factory system where it was restricted – the filters themselves. Simply going from the stock paper filters to the Dinan multi-layered cotton filters not only increased flow by nearly 20% but also resulted in some modest power gains in the mid and upper RPM range. While happy with the results, the engine bay remained lack luster and devoid of any visual hallmarks.

And so, the worship worthy ziggurat of carbon fiber was born. The herculean, detail laden, UV coated 2x2 carbon fiber lid inhabits the same footprint as its factory counterpart but flairs outward at its sides in order to inhibit the view of some of the unsightly stainless-steel hardware underneath that is visible in stock form. With the goal of having the engine bay as clutter free as possible the engine cover itself is also devoid of distracting mounting hardware. Instead, powerful rare earth magnets are utilized resulting in not only an incredibly clean installation, but also one that takes no time or effort to mount.

Together, the high flow filters and the carbon fiber engine cover, represent the X3M/X4M intake system even if the “intake” moniker may be considered a stretch and not universally accepted. The combination still represents the best comprehensive value for the 2 pieces. However, each component is sold separately for those that may only be after the increased flow/power or only the visual appeal. There is an option for everyone.

Features/Benefits (Cold Air Intake):
  • More Power: Max gains of 7 WHP and 8 lb-ft of torque @ 4750 RPM.
  • More Flow: 18.6% greater than stock (Stock: 862 CFM, Dinan: 1022 CFM @ 28" H2O per bank).
  • Massive detail rich, gloss UV coated, 2x2 carbon fiber engine cover for maximum under hood appeal.
  • Set of drop-in multi-layered cotton high flow filters for increased flow and superior filtration.
  • One word: Magnets. The mounting hardware solution for those that wish to be free of clutter.
  • Bolt-on installation.
  • 50 State Emissions Legal: CARB EO D-176-54.

Description (Engine Cover): Adding some aesthetic charm to an otherwise humble X3M/X4M engine bay, the Dinan carbon fiber engine cover is a bold statement for anyone wanting to give the under-hood visuals an upgrade.

The massive, detail laden, UV coated 2x2 carbon fiber lid inhabits the same footprint as its factory counterpart but flairs outward at its sides in order to inhibit the view of some of the unsightly stainless-steel hardware underneath that is visible in stock form. With the goal of having the engine bay as clutter free as possible the engine cover itself is also devoid of distracting mounting hardware. Instead, powerful rare earth magnets are utilized resulting in not only an incredibly clean installation, but also one that takes no time or effort to mount. As a bonus, already straightforward filter changes are made even easier and expeditiously.

Features/Benefits (Engine Cover):
  • Generous amount of gloss UV coated 2x2 carbon fiber encompassing a huge swath of the engine bay for maximum under hood appeal.
  • Oversized to hide unsightly stainless-steel hardware, cables, tubes and the like for a cleaner then factory appearance.
  • One word: Magnets. The mounting solution for those that wish to be free of clutter.
  • Bolt-on installation.
  • 50 State Emissions Legal: CARB EO D-176-55.

Features/Benefits (High Flow Filters):
  • More Power: Max gains of 7 WHP and 8 lb-ft of torque @ 4750 RPM.

OMG!!! I have been praying that you guys would release this for the F97/F98. This looks incredible!! Also, very smart marketing move to make the cover available for sale without the filters if the customer wants.

Literally placing my order now. Thank you!!

Perhaps eventually. Platform is at least finally on the radar this year but it remains to be seen if we get that far down the priority list.

You can always just remove the OEM engine cover/airbox lid and call it a day. Easy and free and will get you some added engine noise that you are craving. Wouldn't endorse that method personally but its an option.

Regarding the sound...
When you have a Dinan axleback and the r33_RGSport non-resonated midpipe in my case... nobody will be able to hear the cold air intake anyway

My order is officially in for this Dinan CAI + carbon fiber cover, I will be sure to post once it's installed!

Not a bad price. I was expecting much higher. In-line with other large CF parts. Under-the-hood bling is really lacking in these cars.

Thank you for giving this platform some love. These days everything is G80 but people are quick to forget the X3M/X4M were the first application of the S58.

I will give this product a hard look.

So this is basically an under the hood cosmetic upgrade for $900 or am I missing something?

Kinda like the CF Strut bar for non-LCIs, right?
Both are very nice, BTW.

Yes and? Doing cosmetic things under the hood is not a new idea. Dinan provides a lower cost alternative to doing that.

"Performance" gains are indeed minimal. I put filters in from IND just for fun and I noticed maybe a hint more sound but no real throttle gain. At 503hp, it's hard to notice a few added HPs from filters.

Just a little confusing because itís an engine cover, but if you replace the filters suddenly itís a cold air intake.
