**NYS catless folks need help***

Is anyone running a catless DP in NY and passing inspection? I've done some research and saw MHD might be able to bypass it with the 1 CAT code present and not the other. Advice would be appreciated...

IL has emissions here, no sniffer just the OBDII. I run a high flow 200 cell cat that doesn’t do a whole lot and get an intermittent CEL. I normally clear it and then will drive until all emission components are in a ready status, except for 2. You are allowed to pass with that here and it has worked for me.

If they do a sniff test, I don’t think there is a way to pass. I would check with your people there on how many emission components can be in a not ready state. Then, clear all codes and drive. Once you metro checking and see you meet their requirements, swing that sucker in and smile when you pass!

In NYS, last time I checked, only 1 emmsions component needs to be ready. I can bypass with a catted DP, thats not the issue. My only concern for this topic is catless. I do not believe NYS does a sniff test

I guess weigh the cost of the ticket versus paying a shop to swap back the cats for testing.
Not really another way? I wouldn't recommend a fake sticker but I suspect that's what some folks do?
Is NY that strict about pulling folks over for inspection stickers?

NYS is very strict, running your plate will flag a failed inspection and that could be more than just a ticket if the cop wants to be really particular that day

Ahh the days of just hooking up another car for the exhaust sniffer will be missed.

A high flow cat that throws a CEL is essentially running catless as far as emissions and them checking the OBD go. I don’t think you will be able to pass with a CEL on, but if it takes some time to come on, you may be able to time it right like I do and pass.

This was like the mother of all forum questions when I was in the VW groups lol.

I ran two cars that shouldn't have passed emissions in NY, one with a high flow Cat and the other catless.

For both, I had coded off the sensor, but to be safe I would flash a stock map and use an O2 spacer or simulator.

I had success with these guys, website is a little sketch but great quality. Never ever had to adjust and passed inspection with flying colors.

I mean, keep in mind if you pull in and your car smells like it's catless, if they're anal retentive they might say something. I'm sure it depends on the shop and the day. I've never had issues, I'm sure in the southern NY area they're plenty used to cheating the system a little bit.

Many people have tried using a spacer and it doesnt help for our BMW's from what i've read.

Running a plate in New York will not reveal a failed inspection, it will reveal a suspended registration which can be a result of different things including a vehicle not being inspected.

Fake inspection sticker in New York is a felony arrest. It’s possession of a forged instrument since it’s a document regulated by the state.
