When I read about the JB4 suggestion to go through the wheel well, this was an indication for me that once it goes in, you only take it off when selling the car. Not for a regular service.
So I guess it also comes down to expectations...

For me DIY, means you can manage yourself, but you could end up taking hours to fit it.

I do agree they should grade the difficulty of installation, like they do on iFixit for Macbooks etc. At least it gives the customer a better indication how hard it will be to fit.
I don't think grading going to help.
iFixit graded some of the job to be hard and take hours, it took me half the time from what they were proposing.
While XPel, claimed it was easy to apply PPF on G05 X5 headlamp, but I failed and wasted my time and money on it.
Yes, I did follow XPel's instructions.
It is DIY product, but I just don't have the capability not patience to do PPF.
Did I bitch and moan and flame XPel as a scam product? No.
I just admit that I am not good at DIY-ing PPF.
And decided to hire someone to do it.

You are big part of the problem. You sell racechip. So speak out wats the deal whit this connector. Obviously it's a problem. More than me have raised the issue in this post.

In your tutorial video you put out on YouTube of how to install racechip anyone can clearly see that you disconnected the connector before you demonstrated it on the video just too make it look easy. That is a scam in regards of marketing this as a DIY product When reality your customers have to have professional mechanic do it.

If you stand by your product don't try to mislead and be a scumbag just to make a couple of extra Penny's it never works in the end

Here's a video of we trying to detach the connector the recommended way. We trued it for 1 hour. 2 hours yesterday. Both whit a lift. My shop is quoting me 200-250$ to disconnect. They will have to take more parts of the engine to clear the connector.

Look at the video. How the hell I'm i gonna be able to pull that connector as stuck att it is. I can barely fit my hand in there. Take some responsibility for your product that you sell

Maybe you took on a job that you shouldn't have...not everyone is handy. That said you're clearly pissed off, but slagging the product and one of its sellers on the forum isn't the way to go about it frankly - might make you feel better but not the way to approach IMO. Take it up with RC directly in Germany....

So maybe don't get a race chip and use spell check in the future. 🤔

Curious, where'd you buy the RC? In Europe or US? Not necessarily relevant, just curious

I'm pretty sure r33_RGSport is a sponsor here, so he's allowed to promote things, such as Race Chip and midpipes. In fact, he also sells Remus, Akrapovic, MSS, and H&R, just to help him promote some more.

So how does RG Sport figure into your issue then?

You mentioned you've had RC units on your other vehicles previously w/o your dealer saying anything about it, so why not pay the $250 and have your installer put it in and just leave it be? No need to disconnect before getting service since your dealer apparently doesn't mind the RC being installed. My 2 cents

Garage List
As I said above I mounted the racechip GTS myself in my garage without a lift just by positioning the car on chocks. I went under the car and not through the wheel arch!

I just installed a JB4 on my 2021 X3MC this afternoon. Same installation procedure as the Racechip. Was the TMAP sensor tough to get to...Yes. Was it impossible to get to...NO. After removing the LF tire and removing the plastic trim panel, I analyzed the situation to try and figure out the best way to get the sensor off. Please keep in mind that I did this with my car sitting in my driveway on jack stands. I didn't have a lift and I'm not an experienced mechanic. And to be honest...my hands are a bit on the chubby side.

I found that turning the wheel assembly all the way to the right gave the most clearance to access the TMAP. I also found that a long needle nose plier was the perfect tool to depress the lock on the sensor as I gently pulled it off. In total, it took me maybe 30 minutes to change this sensor. If I had to do it again, wheel off to wheel on, I could probably do it in 15 minutes.

OP...you would have been much better off coming on this forum and asking for help then bashing a company in which the install process has been done hundreds if not thousands of time. Just sayin...
