Water Pump and Thermostat Change - N52
Back story is a purchased this 07 e83 about a month ago. I was told it only needed a water pump but as I've dug into it it's needed a lot more so far.... (ofhg, Tcase actuator gear/fluid etc..) anyways just did the water pump and thermostat last night finally.
I've done it on two of my other n52 cars so I know what I'm doing but ended up doing the entire procedure without lifting the x3 or removing the sway bar or anything else. Removed and replaced both parts up and out between the front of the engine and fan. It's tight and my hands hurt today but just want to let others know it's possible. If you had the parts could do it literally anywhere (side of the road etc..) given how I did it.

3PG, Check this out. Water pump was slapping the rack stud for 140k miles. Need to zoom in to see. Do you see any dings on your pump? My mounting points are fine. I plan to cut off and file with a few threads remaining.
Looks like poor attention to detail assembly from factory. What brand pumps do you use? Purchase from and price? I replaced my 135 at 60kmiles now 100k with oem, so far so good Thanks JB |
