With AMG said to be working on an even hotter (than the one going in the new line of *53 models) version of the new M256 I6, how much more time does the M177 V8 have in the "C" family of AMG vehicles?
When talking about performance engines, vehicles in this class are currently being nudged toward six cylinder engines, with V8s being hard to justify at this point for anything less than 500hp. Now, the next generation "C" vehicles in AMG *63 guise may very well be targeting over 500hp even in non-S trim. But then that figure is hardly the ceiling for the M256 either... The X5M and X6M are classified as "volume sellers" at BMW M. As they sell in huge numbers.
Just think what the X3M and X4M will do.

Can't wait!! The F97 will be a nice replacement once this gets old after a year and half or so...
BTW, winters are installed in this pic, as the 21" 718M are stored nicely with my 20" 666M And unlike the others, I'm thinking the color is Space Gray Metallic

Don't know about X5/6M production to demand, but I sure hope BMW is able to keep up with the demand on the X3/4M. I would love to get into this car in a few years, but hopefully allocations won't be tight.

The segment gets hot as soon as BMW releases something

It looks amazing...I drove the base stelvio in Germany last summer and it was nice. Unfortunately, as Grand Tour explained...no tow bar. That'd be a deal breaker for me. Plus, after that episode...a raptor does seem like a much better value!
Interesting...second pic does look like it, first doesn't though. Would like to see space gray coming back!

This all started back in 2011 with the F25. It's too bad it took BMW a full life cycle to bring us an X3M. To be fair, when the 2011 F25 came to market, there was nothing that came close...until the Macan was released.
A fully loaded X3M should sit at @80K USD. Add at least another 6-8K if they do end up releasing a Comp Pack. Sign me up in 2021 if I can wait that long.

Why the hate? They don't even compare. The GTS and Turbo are in line with the X3M40i / X4M40i, NOT the X3M and X4M.
Have you tried driving them back to back (the GTS/Turbo and X3M40)? I've spent a lot of time driving that entire lineup, including Audi, Jag, MB, and still went with the M40i for a better driving experience - even came out quicker in some test and reviews.
