Battery Registration?
Hi,
I need to replace the battery on my X3 F25. Has any one been able to register a new battery using INPA? I downloaded and installed the software but I cannot see the option of "Power Module". Would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks |

Are there any Android apps that you can register your battery with? Bimmerlink can do it, but it is iOS only.
thanks

Bimmerlink or ista+, I'm sure some other scan tools can reg it too. Make sure the Ah of the batt matches the vehicle settings or that should be changed.

Also, if you replace the battery with one of the same amp hour rating, you don't technically have to register it. The only real benefit to registering it in that scenario is you can reset the mileage counter for it.

Registering the batterry is not the same as changing and Ah values. If you don't resister the new battery, even when replacing it with the same Ah as the old battery, the new battery will get overcharged; therefore, i highly recommend registering the new battery so the charging characteristics match a new battery, not the old one, but maybe you know something I don't.

A 105 Ah Battery is almost impossible to find
I have a 2013 X3 (F25) that came with an (OEM) H9 105Ah Varta battery. Its is still the original factory battery but is is fading and needs replacement. (8+ years!)
So can a 100Ah battery be used as a replacement without the coding process? And only register it? (I have Bimmerlink) If so what would happen to the battery? And is it even possible to code the battery at 100Ah? I do have E-Sys, but have not used it in 3 years.... Any advice? |

I've read that, at least with the Carly app, if you have a battery that doesn't match one of the expected sized you choose the one smaller. So I don't think you would register the 100 as a 105, but the next smaller size.
I had a hassle last fall when I tried to replace the battery myself. My car did NOT like it. Maybe there was a problem with the new battery, though the new battery tested fine at the auto parts store. Car refused to start, though it had plenty of cranking power. All sorts of error lights, etc, to where I thought I damaged a computer. Then put my failing battery back in, and it started right up. I managed a couple more weeks until I got it replaced at a dealership for only about $50 more than doing it on my own. And nearly $300 cheaper than another dealership quoted me. |

Pungo - I appreciate the info - your pic from the coding is the same for what I see in the BimmerCode app. No option for 100Ah. Its odd - I can find a 100Ah battery at Pep Boys, Auto Zone, Advanced Auto Parts and O'Reillys . Just cant find a 105AH! I have not checked at the BMW dealer. Maybe I need to do that.
Kevink1 - I don't know anything about the Carly app, but the advice of going down to code a 100Ah battery at 90Ah may be a better (safer?) idea than leaving the coding at 105Ah and putting in a 100Ah. Ya know - replacing a battery shouldn't be such a hassle! Thanks all for the assistance/advice! |

In the fall when I was looking for a battery I found a 105Ah at Napa, that looked like it was made by the same manufacturer of the OEM one. I want to say it was around $250. The 105Ah from the dealer was around $190, so I just went with that. The part number was 61-21-2-353-814, for what it's worth.
