With the final revealed looks of the M3 and M4: Absolutely not, THAT front end is just an abomination.

I won't be jumping into the new M3/4.
I prefer the look of the X3M, it's like a Swiss Army knife. Positives vs the M3/4 - sleeper looks - great for camping - sits four adults comfortably - stupid discount in the U.K. in 2019 - no horrible iDrive 7 - plenty of space for our Hungarian Vizsla next year - good daily driver - stupidly fast What isn't there to like about it

Based on what I'm seeing so far I won't be switching to a G82. I don't like the look and this is probably the first M3/M4 that I'm saying maybe it will grow on me.
That statement alone scares me away from it... |

The G80 release just makes me miss my F80 even more. But, a quick blast in the X3M with a mountain bike and gear in tow makes me forget the F80 altogether.

I haven't really connected with my X4M so I need to see the G80 in person and drive it (plus make sure the seats aren't as uncomfortable as the X4M) and then it will prob come down to the price and what I can get for my X4M.
I see the exterior carbon package is a must to try and improve the front end a bit but I'm sure they will rape you on the cost of that. If seeing it in the flesh does not make me really like it then I may wait to see what the next refresh of the RS5 Sportback looks like or possible go way out there with an Alpha Quad. Though I don't know when that RS5 is coming, they are still doing model year 2019s.

The reveal wasn't horrible, the weight was disappointing. If it's that heavy, I don't see a huge reason to switch from the X3M which I think has better looks. Though obviously different price point, my want for a wagon is now aiming me towards the e63s refresh.

If they do a stupid deal next summer on an xdrive M4C then maybe but very doubtful as the grille just isn't right for me.
The torque numbers are interesting though and I'd like to see how that changes the character of the S58.

it really is amazing how much better BMWs lease than really anyone else in remotely the same category. easily a 50% swing for the same MSRP. it's half the reason i've stayed w/ BMW for so long.

From videos it looks like the regular seats are the same as the X3/4M with a different color pattern. There is of course the optional performance seats but I doubt those will be any more comfortable.

Besides the grill - the design is off. The angles are too sharp and angular. I like the rear by itself but the design doesn't match the front. Side profile is messed up - roof line looks abnormally high. I really don't like the staggered wheel setup - the front wheel looks tiny especially with the wheel gap.
It will probably grow on me slightly but I can't see buying one. |

Apologies in advance for joining this discussion as I've not owned a previous iteration which was the impetus for this thread by 2kaccordocoupe .
But. With concern that BMW will continue the larger grill design language into our future F97/98 designs, I have followed the G8x Forum for the past few weeks to see how these emerged. Some on that Forum have wondered how it would look if the grills were smaller, or if the license plate which is shown in the current reveals wasn't there. I did a brief photo-edit for someone in one of their threads wondering about a smaller grill, and I've completed one now without the license plate. Interesting that if you zoom in on the lateral edges of the plate (where the sensors are placed just outside of it), there seems to be a solid backing going horizontally. Will be interesting to see if that is accurate. If so, it would seem modifications to the grill design that followed that solid pattern wouldn't lead to any issues with engine cooling or aerodynamics. I remain hopeful BMW does not introduce this large grill design into our future F97/98 models. |

F80 leaked photos, loved it. Hence why I picked up a YMB F80 6MT Leaked G80 photos and post release reaction? The worst design yet (the front that is). Everything else I like. Oh and probably minus the carbon seat's nut guard. Totally unnecessary..

Should have kept the seat as it, lose the nut bs thing, and it would be a bitchin' seat.

I wonder if the nut bit is for a future multi point harness? Could be a buckle hiding under the carbon.
