NickJ28 curious to hear your thoughts after 3 months on this setup. Has anything changed? Do you still feel this to be a improvement over the stock non adaptive set up?

Just started to read the thread; I have read here as well as car mags claim the X3's ride is stiff.
I really didn't believe mine was harsh at all, but then a light went on, that those suggesting a stiff ride have the larger wheel / tire size (mine is the stock 19"). Between that and ditching the RFs, I think the ride is fine, even in sport mode! |

The AC Schnitzer Splitter looks amazing.
I received mine a few days ago and it is at the painter at the moment. I am painting all parts in car colour, including the under part of the actual splitter, which is gloss black, like shown red in the picture. And I have also the Eibach Pro kit and I am very happy with it. |

I do like how it blends in with the front bumper, almost oem looking. |

Yeah, I know. In fact too expencive for what it is.
I had a "cheap one" but was not 100% happy with it and didn´t trust it on fast runs on the autobahn. The AC Schnitzer is very good mounted, so I have no fear that something could fly off. And as you write, it looks very oem and for me the front looks perfect now. |

I helped my wife shop for her new car (ended up with a Mazda CX-5 which is an excellent vehicle). She tried out a Lexus NX300 and that sucker rode a lot worse than my M40i even though I still run the RFTs (I am NOT going to waste money throwing them out with fresh tread)...significantly worse. This Spring, I am possibly going to move to the Eibachs and Bilstein or some other setup, I haven't done much research on yet. I'm not going to turn this thing into a track car...I have an actual track car for that. So I need to do more due diligence before jumping in...I've had enough cars that I've made unfortunate decisions with at this point! |

I spoke with a specialist from shocksurplus.com to get a second opinion before making a decision and this was his feedback on going with the B6's:
"Yea that sounds like the usual oversprung and underdamped tuning ethos that seems to plague the suspension of most sporty SUVs. They need stiff springs to control something tall and heavy, but often do not spec them with a shock that can actually control all the rate of those springs, so they end up bouncing your cheeks a lot on rebound. These Bilstein B6 struts and shocks should do the trick for making the ride more consistent and less nervous, while also improving handling. They are digressive on both compression and rebound so they should do a better job of managing all that spring force while bleeding off stiffness for bumps" I'd say his feedback generally makes sense. Curious about what others think. |

I have the stock 19” with rft driving in California, and the M40I handles great in my opinion. Not harsh at all. Maybe tire size makes more difference? |

I dont think its harsh, its more of a constant "busyness". Plus I am on the non adaptive suspension.
Another forum member mentioned moving to a larger sidewall and experiencing even more busyness/bounce - https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=25 |
