Couldn't disagree more. I like the chrome, I think it looks classy. I am in the shadowline looks like sunglasses camp.

It’s interesting that it’s not all chrome, the vertical slats are black in the grill. I’m not sure what I like more. On the UK configurator the all black shadow line looks pretty good to me. I’d like to see non shadow line on a better color car…….

Yeah I agree. It makes no sense. Seems like another arbitrary forced upgrade, like the requirement for leather for heated rear seats.

Order for my X3 M40i has been placed!

Wireless charging is not available for the foreseeable future but all other options were able to be added including the HK audio system.

The dealer also indicated that features like the updated Bluetooth were all added to the build and those had been left out of builds up until now, so hopefully this indicates that things will be getting better.

I think I read elsewhere that there is speculation that the wireless charging isn't impacted by supply chain, as much as the customer feedback has been so negative that they're reworking it on the X3's. Just a rumor though.

BMW was probably holding back parts from the pre-LCI X3's to stockpile for the X3 LCI launch. I believe I read that PC graphic cards supply is also improving, which might not necessarily signal the end of the chip shortage (I think that's slated to last for a few years), but perhaps things won't be as bad as they have been.

So right now the order has been placed, but I have not negotiated the final price. Essentially the only option I didn't select was the sensatec dash. List for that is about $69k. The dealer is not discounting vehicles right now because demand is outstripping supply. So we will revisit pricing closer to production and see how the supply is then. Either way I need a car and this is the one I want so we'll what the market does and what leverage that leaves me.

I test drove the 2021 model several times so not seeing the 2022 models isn't much of a concern to me. The LCI doesn't substantially change the look or feel of the vehicle.

Thanks for the awesome info ... They let you order the car without determining Price? Can you walk away if you don't like the result in 2 months? Said another way, what motivation does dealer have to discount if you are already locked in?

It was one of their allocated cars. So I can walk away since I have signed nothing. I can also change the build up until production begins.

I have an appointment next Saturday to order a 2022 M40i. Checking the majority of boxes too except ZDY Driving Assistance Professional Package.

About the SensaTec Dashboard, why are you not choosing that? Does it come with extra stitching, looks more premium, and since it's SensaTec a softer feel than the soft touch plastic? I did a search but didn't find a ton of info.

Assuming it's the same across all markets, SensTec is faux leather with contrast stitching on the dash and door caps.

On pre-LCI it also included a speaker grill in the dash center, even without the HK option, although there was no speaker under it without the HK. Guess it was cheaper to just produce one type.

On the plastic dash, the speaker area was just an indentation from cars I've seen, but don't know if this becomes a speaker if HK is added.

I guess personal taste but looks better to me.

Thanks for the info. Can you please confirm, at least for pre-LCI.

If I order Vernasca leather and SensaTec Dashboard. I will get extra contrast stitching across the dashboard and door caps. Or does that stitching already come with the Vernasca leather option?

I thought there was always that center channel in the dash (at least in the US), not just with HK. The Bavsound stage 1 for non-HK includes a replacement speaker pair:

I noticed in order guide that mineral white was included on base X3 but not on X3 M40i. I'm hoping this is a typo. I would be surprised that X3 had more exterior options than X3 M40i. The same was true on X4 M40i.

I did a search on forum as well as Google but was unable to find anything conclusive.

I discussed it with my friend at the dealer and while it does look nice we decided it wasn't worth the added cost for me. There's no functional benefit to it and to me the aesthetic difference didn't really do much for me. Also, I was already adding all the other features and felt like keeping off that would some semblance of restraint. 😂
