Interior Trim

Hi all, the wife just picked up a 2017 (made) BMW X3, and we were wandering if it was possible to purchase a different interior trim.

Currently a shiny black which will scratch like crazy I'm sure. She really likes one of the of the other BMW colour options which BMW had available. Any info or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps wrapping the stock trim is an option?

I think you have to buy parts from dealership and replace in service, allthough it will be costly as hell...

Would be a lot cheaper to just trade the car in for another with spec you want.

Would ceramic coating the trim be possible? I've seen protective film on amazon I was thinking of getting.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t the black trim not an option and just the stock interior around the mode buttons, gear stick, cup holders, radio and AC areas?

It is possible but will be extremely costly. Might be better to look at getting the trim wrapped like someone else said. There are nice aluminum look wraps and some colors that would look good. Another thing to try is to see if you have a local cerakote or similar product dealer in the area. They are able to come up with a wide variety of looks at a cheaper price.

That's correct, that black plastic is coming no matter what.

Some markets had shiny piano black plastic available EVERYWHERE, and not just around the mode buttons, radio, AC......

God, if I could only get rid of the Piano Black on my center console, life would be so grand. No more dust and swirls and angst whilst looking at it. I don't understand why one's chosen trim couldn't also cover that flat surface...

THIS - drives me nuts. I've had to train myself to ignore it......and it still kinda drives me batty.

I don't want to put any substance on the piano black, I just want it to be like new every day. I've been using a soft cloth moistened with a solution of white vinegar and RO (reverse osmosis) water - it leaves it sparkling, but then you have to use Q-tips to get under the switches, etc. My Fineline Cove trim is easy to care for - no fingerprints and the dust is not seen as easily.

SROC3,

Trusting you on this so I will order a bottle tomorrow. I'll let you know my thoughts after I use it. What applicator did you use to apply...a microfiber cloth or the sponge shown with the bottle?

Thanks for the tip. I'm a fanatic about the cleanliness of the interior of a vehicle

Are you confident it will protect the trim? Any anti static properties that you can see repel a bit of dust?

Trim

Thanks for all the advice.

Unfortunately the links to the trim apparently only fit left hand drive cars which is not us in AUS. Also the protectant on Amazing does not ship to AUS. Amazon cut off most of products from shipping to AUS a year ago when they opened up a AUS specific shop, but we only can access about 20% of their total products.

Will contact a BMW dealer here for a quote on the trim, expect to be about $1500.
