M40i, the more I drive it the more I love it
This morning after an early morning workout I stopped and grabbed a cup of coffee and coming out of the store was greeted with the wonderful view of my Carbon Black 2019 X3 M40i and I have to say each time I see it and drive it the more I like it. I had never really been drawn to prior X3s so I had a bit of an attitude but BMW did such a great job with the styling outside (more aggressive) and inside (more luxurious) that this SAV is nothing like prior ones.
And the best part of all is the pure joy from driving it. My last car was a 2012 Cayenne and I couldn’t imagine any other SUV handling the way that did. Yes, there are differences and pluses and minuses but overall The M40i more than holds its own (might be different in a Turbo though). I love the B58 engine. Everything is smooth and the transmission is just dialed in perfectly. Nothing more pleasing than jamming the accelerator and the pure power in response. Really exceeded expectations. My only gripe is I now find myself making excuses for longer road trips. That and trying to hide how much fun it is from my wife and my newly licensed teenage son. |

I planned ahead and took care of my teenager driver problem by getting her a Toyota before I bought my X3!
Totally agree that the X3 M40i is the most satisfying car that I've owned. |

Growing up I never expected to get a X3. When I test drove the M40i last weekend, that changed my mind immediately. BMW really did something unique with the G01!

I couldn't agree more. I never considered the X3 line until I started seeing the photos of the G01 generation. The photos drew me in and then once the specs of the M40i were announced I was officially intrigued. When it came time to get a new vehicle I was pretty sure the X3 was going to be for me based on all the photos, the specs, and the forum posts but the test drive definitely sealed the deal.
I think BMW really struck the perfect balance of utility, sport, and luxury with this generation.

Embarrassingly, I have turned my 9 year old son into a petrol head.
We were watching old Top Gears today. And he was saying how he really liked my car. It just does everything you need from it. I accept not everybody wants a SUV / SAV but if you do, it's a good option!!! Slow and steady when you need it...then a hooligan if you want that too! |

I have a 10 year old son and every time he gets in my car, he asks me to put in Sports Plus so he can hear the pops and crackles! He already laid a claim on the car once he's old enough to drive... I really hope that self driving car will be ready by then... |

I thought I was going to drive sport coupes (maybe even sedans) for the rest of my days. Never saw myself in an SUV until my wife got a Mazda CX-5 which I started to like. Started looking into the Macan at first because I thought it was the only SUV that could perform. However, too expensive, tech too outdated and too small. Very good handling though. Through youtube videos I learned about the M40i and boy I was hooked. Watched every possible video and after just minutes on my test drive, I knew I was going to get one. What a blast this car is in every aspect!
