Thanks fellow owners! I will use this data as ammunition the next time I am contacted (I am certainly not going to initialize the contact!)

We take six hour drives up to the northland during the summer and sat radio was definitely a wake up call. Instead of scanning for PBS stations in three states during the journey it was great to have that one station to keep us informed.

Ironically in today's snail mail I received the $5.99/6 month offer. I need to find a credit/debit card that offers temporary cc#'s so I can block the auto renewal down the road, any recommendations?

A $10 Visa gift card that you can reload later? So if they accept the card number, the most you can lose is $10. Better yet, after they deduct the $5.99, spend the remaining $4 at Starbucks for a nice latte

I think it's a charge of (6) x $5.99 + taxes and fees, renewable after six months at the going normal rate as they describe it. Giftcard is a great idea are they identical to a credit card charge with the familiar expiration date and cvc codes?

I have a Visa 'debit' gift card in front of me which my son got as a gift. 16 digit card number, expiration date, 3 digits security code on back... Look, feel, sound and smell just like a credit card to me

If their system accepts your card for the first month payment, you can always continue with the same card and reload when necessary. So start with a low balance of $10 and make sure it works first?

While doing a year end financial review of my tech costs (phone/cable/sat radio/internet), I noticed that the monthly direct debit for Sirius which started out at $8/mo, had crept up to $27/mo!

I immediately called to cancel and was asked if I was cancelling because I bought a new car. When I said no, I was immediately transferred to a retention specialist. When asked my reasoning for cancelling, I said $27/mo is a bit much to be paying for a radio subscription and I just wanted out. She noted that I was a 'valued long time customer' and asked if I would consider staying on if she dropped my cost for all that I was currently getting to $6/mo!

Don't you just hate that kind of BS!

Yes; you're valued because they've been screwing you for years. New customers or ones that have realized they're being taken and want out get the best deals.

I found a "request an invoice" option on their website so you can pay by check. Found it by entering "pay by check" in their search field. I think basically they'll take you money just about any way your willing to give it to them. That's what I'm going to do tomorrow via my bank's online "bill pay" option for the $5.99/month semi-annual renewal plan I'll report back results.
Good discussion.

Great car. 14k miles so far. Mostly from round trips up north. I had to make a tool run up to the cabin here's a photo.

Just watch out, they use to charge a $2.00 fee for a paper invoice.

I am hoping it's one invoice for the 6 months though, but thanks for the heads up.

I just got an offer to extend my trial subscription for an additional 3 months free. The fine print, naturally, says a credit card is required for this offer. They desperately want a credit card so they can start charging full price if someone forgets to cancel. I've enjoyed my trial subscription, but I refuse to do business with a company with such shady business practices (renewal/cancellation/pricing games, etc). See ya!

I have played this game every year with them on my current car from 2011. I cancel and get transferred to retentions. Every year they drop the rate to around the $99.00 range. Pain in the ass but I like the stations. They are definitely worse than the cable company! When my X3 arrives I will cancel my old subscription. We will see how that goes!

I think the best I got was $4.99+taxes per month for something random like 8 months. Unfortunately, the last time I renewed, I did it for a year ($72 I think) but now I have to call and cancel mid year because I'm switching vehicles. Getting a prorated refund is going to be a nightmare. Honestly, I'm so sick of them I don't think I'll play the game anymore after my next 1 year free membership.

My trial expired Feb 1. But a few days prior, I found a renewal deal that was $2 (total) for three months, so I figured WTH. Set myself a reminder to call in and cancel.

I'm surprised people pay for this. I've had the trial for almost a year now and I've only listened to it for maybe <30min. The sound quality is so much crap and it keeps cutting out when I'm in locations where the signal is weak (parkades, beside a tall building, etc)

I instead got Apple Music and haven't looked back
