Dinan got 475 HP, 482 lb-ft of torque (Crank); 378 HP, 395 lb-ft of torque (Wheel) after the tune. So your torque is way better. And pre-tune it was 445hp/440 torque at the crank.
If you look at the Delta it's 30hp and 42lbft increase for Dinan which is nearly nothing in terms of B58 power increases, it's a glorified boost controller - I would know as I have it on my 340i. The Stg2 MP tune was shown to gain 80+whp and over 100lbft of torque. Dinan's results are always a bit odd when it comes to their "dyno" numbers. Comparing that to a low reading Mustang dyno on a different day with a different car isn't much of a comparison. The only piggyback that is even close to the MP tune that we've seen so far is the JB4 and that leaves a bit to be desired.

It would appear so, and to be honest the best proof is the 1/4 mile times

but I can turn off and hide my jb4 for service. How does the MP tune work when it comes to keeping it secret ?

I agree, I haven't seen any 1/4 mile times for M40i other then JB4 and MP.

I just flash the stock file back on my car, flash counter stays at 0 and dealer doesn't know anything.

How are you going to hide a DP when you bring it in for service? This takes all the fun out of it for me. I don't really care anymore.

That's a common misconception that a JB4 is hidden once it's turned off or removed. If you were to have a catastrophic engine failure and BMWNA went through your ECM they could easily see a trend of values that are outside normal operating parameters.

Sure you can remove the JB4 so it's physically not there but BMW can still read internal ECM data on what caused a fault or what particular MAP, IDC, Timing, etc have been. They can correlate this to a piggyback installation, they aren't dumb and are well aware of what a JB4 and other piggybacks are that operate in the grey area of factory margins and ECU trickery.

The ECM's are advanced enough in these cars that pretty much anything you do can be noticed one way or another if needed. Is most cases a properly done flash tune is actually probably less detectable if flashed back to stock. This has been an age old argument where piggyback owners/vendors state this as a sales metric that is far from true.

I don’t buy it, but if I do buy it I know it’s pay to play. But then again it’s hard to argue a downpipe caused an issue with the cam sensor....

I'm sure BMW could make up anything to get out of a warranty claim on a tuned vehicle regardless if the issue is related or not.

It all comes down to the dealership and your service advisor. Talk to them and build a relationship

Didn't someone say bmw wanted to void a warranty because of an air intake ? Im not sure we heard the final outcome but that to me is pure bullshit.

That is correct...and I think because of legal issues, he didn't comment further. I believe the repair they wanted him to pay out of pocket was in the $4K range...crazy.

I'm pretty impressed with the MP Stage 2 tune with DP. I totally was able to run with an RS3 at hwy speeds pretty well. He eventually pulled away from me but he wasn't able to easily do it. With an 800lb weight disadvantage, plus a passenger, I'm pleasantly surprised with my M40i.

You can't hang with this one...lol...

Did you get the correct DP now? Is it available to purchase yet?

This is true and while i cant discuss details, I had a great relationship with dealer service advisor and everyone running up the chain. The next chance I get I will be trading in my BMW and going elsewhere. The bad taste in my mouth from the whole ordeal, really comes down to if and or when something happens, once the mechanic logs something they do everything they can to cover "their ass" and not yours...all the dont worry I got you if anything happens is BS "from your friendly advisor" goes south when something serious happens.

I understand all dealers are different but i assume they all jump into CYA mode which is typically the case. You are lucky if you experience otherwise.

My next soon to be car will be something i dont have to tune to fall in this range. Tired of the bs. (rs3)

This makes me more excited to get it when the Black Friday sale goes live.

Curious, what gas do primarily run on it? I'll be doing a mix of 91 and e85 to get 93/94 because California sucks.

Yours is a different animal! The one I was playing with was likely stock.

The DP for the 340i (listed on ER's site) "fits", but it leaks. If you aren't OCD like me it probably won't be an issue. I should receive the new one this week or next since it's a holiday.

I'm on 93 Shell. No E85 content has been added in the last 2 tanks.

If you get the DP, spend the extra cash on the ceramic. I have a big feeling this is why I'm constantly pulling so much lower end torque. While the car is running I can grab the DP and my hand doesn't get burnt.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I also need it to be a little on the quiet side because I don't have a muffler lol

Oh. Well lol don't get a DP. Catted may be a little quieter? I have catted and it's just right. But I still have my factory exhaust.

Mission Performance 1/4 Mile Time

I hear this time and time again. That equation is never real life. Way too optimistic. Here is yet another example of how that formula misleads people.

1320/123 is 10.73 seconds

Not even close to what the car actually did.

I just did some brutal all-wheel-drive donuts on a fairly new blacktop parking lot. It was glorious. Smoke was pouring from all four tires!

DSC OFF = amazing.

My wife said she'd rather get it on video rather than be in the car with me.

She thought we were going to tip over! Fun times. I'll try and get it done soon. I can't believe how much it breaks loose. It's like a cat on a tin roof.
