All South Africa except those involving 'Individual' builds so I am told. If your VIN has NA before the last 5 numbers then it is SA.

It may have been the early M40d's I saw coming through all had individual options

Finally, X3 has arrived in the Netherlands! Received Invoice and Certificate of Conformity from BMW so registration can finally start. Not sure where the car currently is though, probably at the main BMW dealer here in The Netherlands (BMW Den Haag)

Getting rid of my old car on Thursday and BMW is loaning a car till the X3 is ready for pick-up. I wonder what car!

Papers for diplomatic registration will be sent to customs today and usually take about 2 weeks to process. Guessing we'll take delivery of the X3 around mid feb if lucky.

X3 has arrived at dealer today! unfortunately haven't been able to see it yet, dealer closed when I was free. Picked up the loaner car this morning though, and well: nothing very exciting, a high spec 220i. M-Sport, High Executive Pack. And not the coupe, no, the little FWD hatch "active tourer"... At least it's free. and 192HP, which makes it pretty fast actually! Only real downside I have found out about it is that the seats are VERY uncomfortable, fine otherwise.

Now I'm just waiting on customs to send the papers so a license plate can be stamped, and the car can be delivered. will take about 10 days now. Next post will hopefully be a delivery one!

I just ordered a new BMX X3. I read through some of your posts, but I'm wondering, what are your resources for tracking the production in Europe (Belgium)? I didn't receive the production number or VIN number yet, but I would like to track the process once I got them! Thanks!

Only resource is you dealer. Everything else is just pure guessing.

If you get your VIN from your dealer, you can check mdecoder.com every day to see when it was manufactured. The rest is up to the dealer to share with you.

Thanks for this info! So I saw some people having the exact status codes of the production process in this thread, so the dealer shares these status codes with them?

The initial official delivery date is 10/06/2019 (derived from the general estimation end of May/beginning of June). The dealer however told me that he was going to give me a more accurate date once possible, which will probably be closer by.

Also asked for the VIN and vehicle production number, but it's not available yet. (Order was done only yesterday)

Ah.. It's unfortunate that you can't get this information yourself. I don't want to stalk my dealer constantly asking him for the status codes.. If he even wants to give them.. Do you think the importer (BMW Belux) could give (and would want) to give this information? (Their email address is listed as point of contact for any questions on the BMW BE website)

I know Matt1002 was lucky enough to got periodical (sort of) updates. You might try the importer, although from members experience they are usually trying to redirect every query to the dealer. I can give you one good advice - the more you will try to find out what is going on with your order, the harder and longer the wait is going to be

Just had an update on the delivery date for my 40d. Seemingly it is coming from South Africa and this noted with a ZA on the order form. Looking at a possible delivery date of the 4th March. Hopefully this will be accurate as I am about to start the vt process on my current car.

Ordered my X3 M40i on New Years Eve, was meant to be delivered mid March (turns out opting for Gloss Black Individual dash inlays slows things down by three weeks) but just had a call from the dealer today to say it's delayed until at least April as there has been a fault found on tail lights in the US so all cars (X3/4/5/6) are sitting at docks until testing is complete and cars signed off.

Anyone else been told this?

FYI - BMW sent me an email two weeks ago to say my car was being shipped

Yes same here, mine was due to be collected 1st March and was told on Friday that it will be delayed but not sure how long. Hopefully sooner than April!

Another chip from the rock - this time on the roof (after the windshield, which had to be replaced), a few cm from the windshield (phew). A small one, but quite deep (clear coat was gone). Touch up paint applied by dealer for free - at least something good about it.
