Just a curious POLL for the forum, what X3 variant do you have. I believe the list is:-

20d

M40d

20i
30i
M40i

I know there's a few SDrive in there but keeping the POLL simple.

My gut feeling is that that poll will show a heavy bias towards the M40i based on the people I've seen posting here. However I also suspect this is skewed away from reality as the people who post on car forums tend to be motoring enthusiasts/performance oriented.

I suspect in reality the 20d/20i is the most commonly sold variant.

Your observation is correct based on what I've seen or far. See another example of polling, and note the disparity in participant numbers between M40i and 30i owners.

Another issue influencing the outcome is that the models are split with regards to the availability in particular countries. For example, here in the UK we don’t get the 3.0i, in the States they don’t get the M40d.

I might be wrong but if we got the 3.0i in the UK it probably wouldn’t be a good seller, but think that the M40d might do quite well in the States. Just my opinion...

I don't think there's too much attention paid to an 'outcome' just a little snap poll of the forum.

24hrs agoni didn't even know some of the engine variants existed.

They might not have internet where the 18d is sold

Obviously my fellow 30d owners have chosen to leave their voting late - or heaven forbid - aren't typically forum dwellers!

Niche at best on here even though according to UK (Howmanyleft) figures it outsells the M40i 3:1.

For those willing to ignore:
- The fact that UK has different engines to other markets
- Not all the engines were released at the same time
- The data is only for UK and only for the first 3 quarters of 2018
- Howmanyleft data isn't always accurate
- There may still have been some F25 stock kicking around, this doesn't differentiate
- Probably some other inaccuracies like misattribution of model

20d - 2363 sales
30d - 1385 sales
M40d - 14 sales (was it even out by Q3?!)
20i - 362 sales
M40i - 403 sales
