BMW Connected+ up for 1yr renewal

My 2018 X3 M40i included one year of "BMW Connected+" subscription, which is now up for renewal at $24.00/yr. It looks like they're still selling features that we don't have:

Quote:
Benefits at a glance:

Send my Routes to Car: Route planning from the smartphone is now simpler than ever.
Share Live Trip Status: “When will you get there?” - this question is a thing of the past with the new function.
Navigate Door-to-Door: Navigating down to the last few meters to the destination (Last Mile) and then back from there later to the vehicle (First Mile).
My Destinations: Quick access to the contents of your address book from all linked in end-user devices.
https://www.bmwusa.com/explore/conne...ReadytoConnect

I've never had the "Live Trip Status" in my (USA) X3. Does anyone have it? My features in the app are listed as:
Code:
Connected+ Features:

BMW Connected Onboard
My Destinations
Navigate Door to Door

Features:

Check Fuel Range
Check Mileage
Flash Headlights
Honk Horn
Locate Your Vehicle
Locking Doors
Remote Climate Control
See Your Vehiclse's Surroundings
Send Destination to Car
Set Ventilation by Timer
Start Ventilation
Unlocking Doors
I have never used Door to Door Navigation (walking directions).
What is "BMW Connected Onboard"?

Very strange.. it seems that if they want $24/yr from all the early X3 buyers, they would do a better job explaining what's included.

Strange you only get 1 year free, we get 3 years in UK!

Yes, share live trip status is enabled in the U.S. I use it quite frequently. When you input in a destination, the last screen where it says start navigation, just below will be a share live updates button. You then pick the contact you want to share the updates with and it will text that person a link to track your progress.

Very interesting bmtespar. I don't have that option anywhere.

Can't imagine it's a CA vs GA thing, but it just seems to be missing. Thanks for the tip -- I will ask BMW what's up. Apparently, I've been missing out on it all year.

Maybe it changed for '19MY?, only came with a year subscription on my '18MY although for some reason it shows as expiring after 19 months instead of 12 months

Just checked and mines actually for 3.5 years! Map updates are just under 3 years though.

Be sure that you have vehicle tracking turned on in idrive settings.

They did explain what's included in Connected+:

The other features in the app are covered by other (extra-cost) subscription services, of which there are several. "Connected+" is just one of them. To see what you have and when they expire, go here and login (assuming the US):
https://connecteddrive.bmwusa.com
Then, click on "Store" (upper-left area) and then the "Services subscribed to" tab (around the middle of the window).

As for Connected+, I think the only marginally useful feature is, "Send my Routes to Car", assuming you use the BMW nav. That just gives you the ability to send a destination to the car from your bed, toilet, or somesuch. This just saves you, oh, 30ish seconds, as you could just get into the car and speak the address to the nav. Of course, if you use carplay, this is probably useless, as you're likely not using the BMW nav with carplay.

Let's look at the other features:
  • Share live trip status: on an iPhone, you can get this for free with Find Friends or Glympse. I imagine similar things exist on android (I'm pretty sure Glympse exists there, too).

  • Navigate Door-to-Door: I think google maps has this, and Apple maps marks the last location of your car. Useful for when you lose your car at stadiums or other large parking lots.

  • My destinations: with android and iOS, this should be automatically done. With BMW's solution, I think you get a synchronized copy in the car, too. Bottom line: use your phone's address book to make phone calls.

Looks like it was possibly extended then for 19MY?, I've never used the connected+ so probably won't renew when expires

Strange they add 6 months to some, mine's the same, everything other that maps are extended

Same as mine... Never used the Connected+ features beyond the basic App, so not sure if I want to fork over the money for this. CarPlay, on the other hand, is a tough decision... it's like addiction, once you get a taste of it, it's hard to give up. Same goes for Sat radio... :

I have yet to use the Connected+ but I've only have the X3 going on three weeks now so I may end up using it's features at some point but I doubt it's something I'd pay for.

CarPlay on the other hand I use daily. While I absolutely hate the fact that it's now an annual subscription with BMW I may just end up paying for it as I'll definitely use it on a regular basis.

Never been a big satellite radio fan. I'll listen to it on occasion when I've had the free subscriptions when buying new cars, but I have the one local radio morning show I listen to on a daily basis and then outside of that it's usually music from my phone.
