S8TGA Thiefproofing device????

Hi

Looking at my decoded VIN vehicle specification sheet and it has this listed:

"S8TGA Thiefproofing device"...

Anyone know what that is...it's an Australian specification build.

Hope its not a fancy term for door locks or something silly like that.

Thank you

If you scroll down it's confirmed as the part number you reference in later models, so no doubt the X3 too.

Even a nice pic. Door locks.

It says “not for vehicles with S8TGA”, so it is something that affects the door locks but isn’t the door locks themselves.

I encountered this same thing when retrofitting the alarm on my old F30. 8TG is simply their option code for "deadlocking" door locks, meaning that when the alarm is locked/turned on, the doors won't open via the inside handle. I assume their reasoning for this option is that it makes it harder for people to bust out the window to try to open the door from the inside.

This got me thinking.. will the BMW alarm go off when the doors are locked, windows down, and someone tried to open from the inside (while they are standing on the outside)? My Lexus did (if I remember correctly).
