Hi guys,

I am from South Africa and new to this forum. I just bought a 2012 X3 and want to upgrade the sound system. I just cant seem to find the factory amplifier. The head unit is Alpine though and it's a 7 speaker system.

Any idea where i should look because the pics I googled on the internet is completely different to my car. looked through the left and right rear panels = no amplifier

Is it possible that the entire system may be running of the head unit? I did notice that there is a fibre optic cable as well.

Question 2019 Training Manuals?

The manuals are great, thank you for posting. Is there a source for more up to date training manuals? I am looking specifically for the training manual set that would cover the 2019 X3 M40i.

Hi octodad. Post #1 by plymjack in this thread has the pdf's as attachments for downloading, although I am viewing on my Windows PC, not ios. Maybe that's the problem.

What is this in BMW X3 F25?

Hi All,
Please could someone advise what this "plug" is circled in blue. Hubby jump-started our other car and used this as the negative terminal. The X3 just died and we haven't been able to revive her since.
Your advise and information would be greatly appreciated!!

Not sure about that connection, but any electrical marked RED is always positive.

For jump start need to + cable clamped into the larger terminal, flip up RED plastic cap. Negative can go in the nut lower center in my attached pic

will the starter motor even try to turn the engine over? If nothing happens when you press start button a fuse or relay may have been fried from the initial jump attempt. so you'd need to inspect/test - my guess is it's a relay that has failed.

Thanks so much for this. Now the big question, how do I identify which relay/fuse fried??

Take a look in the Owners manual- I think it will tell you the location of the fuse and relay boxes. They are in more than one place- behind glovebox, behind side panel in storage area behind rear seat.

Fuses can be removed and you can visually look at them to identify if they are good or blown. I am not sure how to check relay condition.
You may need to get car to mechanic to sort this out.

Thanks so much for at least trying.

2013 x3 f25

Hi, I have a X3 F25 with N20 engine. The camshaft timing need to set for the timing chain replacement, when number one cylinder at TDC. After when the camshaft at proper settings, I'll be able to install the camshaft locking tool My question is, is there any marks, on the camshaft, which will help to syncronize the engine. As of now the engine semi apart, no chain no vanos no spockets on the camshaft. If you can help I appretiated
