No BMW Message for ConnectedDrive Registration

My car doesn't show any message in "ConnectedDrive -> BMW Messages" during the registration process. I tried twice and each time it said "This code has been sent to your vehicle. You will find it in the vehicle in the ConnectedDrive menu under Messages." But there is just no messages so I cannot complete the registration process.

My car does display local weather and news dynamically, so it appears there is internet connection.

is the car in a parking garage? Try moving it to a different location and trying again. It could be their server is down. Also, you can achieve the same thing by plugging your phone in via usb and launching the bmw connected app. It will detect the car and walk you through setting it up.

You can press option and try to refresh. I can't remember exactly what it was called but maybe reconnect?

Just checked my car.

Within connecteddrive on your iDrive screen, click on the "options" button below the dial next to the shifter. Select "update BMW assist"

This should refresh it.

I had to do this when I got my car. Dealer and genius hotline wasn't much of a help. Dealer had said wait a few days. Genius hotline said dealer didn't activate.

I'm having this problem too. Messages are never sent. Further, BMW seems to ignore e-mail messages to customercare@bmwassist.com.

I'm sure I can call them to resolve this but it's not urgent enough to where I want to sit on hold or something.

I've tried both the app and site to send the message, neither works. The car has good signal, other internet services work fine.

I tried these:
1) Refresh through "option" in ConnectedDrive: It says updated, but there is till no message that contains the verification code.
2) Connect my phone to car through USB: My phone is charging, nothing else is noticeable.
3) Login the ConnectedDrive in iDrive interface: "Login" becomes "Logout" which means log in is successful, but then nothing else is noticeable.

Try "update BMW assist" a few times.

If you just purchased the car, it may take a couple of days to actually register with the system.

Last resort is asking your dealer whether the bmw connected has been activated.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some server side issues. Again.

Just keep pushing customer support. I found out that doing it through the Genius at the dealer might have helped. At least I got some feedback through him. Took more than a week to get my remote services working. But at that time I did get the activation message, so now they have some other issues...

Maybe BMW server was down.

The message finally came when it already passed the expiry. I requested again and this time the message came after just a few minutes and it worked.

BTW, I found that I had to re-install the Android App to have all the functions.

I am UK based and had exactly the same problem. Despite repeated messages being "sent" they were never in the car. Called customer service, there was an option to speak with connected drive services, and it was enabled almost immediately whilst we were on the phone.

I've bought my 335i last month and have been trying to enable connected drive for the past week - I'm well familiar with not getting messages on the connected drive.

Customer support has finally gotten back to me. This is what they wrote ...

Vehicle cannot be mapped online. An ESA (ConnectedDrive Electronic Subscriber Agreement) must be created. Please provide proof of ownership so we can start the process.

Proof of Ownership can be at least two of the following documents:

A copy of the vehicle Title
A copy of the vehicle Registration.
A copy of the vehicle Insurance card.
Please compress your attachments to make them as small as possible. Do not send Sales documents, these are not accepted as proof of ownership.

Upon receipt we can proceed with next steps. You can send them via email to cd_accounts@bmwna.com or fax.

If you send them via fax please make sure to include a coversheet with your Name, Contact Number and Reason for sending the documents.

Should you have further questions or need additional information, you may reply directly to this e-mail. Our days of operation are Monday-Friday; 8:30 AM-5:30 PM EST.

Log into connected drive in your vehicle. I forget exactly where to go to get to it. As long as your Electronic Subscriber Agreement was filled out properly at your dealer when you bought the car it should work after logging into the car. You also need to log into the connected drive website and create your security questions and fill out all the other necessary information.

I was having this same issue and I fixed it by logging into connected drive through my car.

Happy new year to everyone!

I am probably in the wrong section of this forum, sorry if i am, but i have this issue on my 840i.

The infotainment system was working ok, but i then noticed yesterday that the Spotify app had stopped working with the car. I thought i would resent the software in the car.

This is when my problems started. Since then i do not have many apps (just personal assistance and bmw assistance). I also do not have BMW Messages in the main com menu, see attached pics.

Perhaps more importantly I do not have BMW messages showing either so when i add the car using the VIN, i cannot enter to code to connect it as no message is received (even though it says it is sent). I have tried everything more than once... including removing the app, resetting the car (more than once), changing passwords (for some reason the login on the website was not accepting the password at one point even though it was right).

I am getting frustrated with the connected services in the car. Previously, since having it, my phone often would not connect (it is android) and i have to manually remove it and add it again. I also have it connected but not coming out of the speakers... although this is normally easily sorted out. One time this happened i reset the car but did not need to reconnect it with the app (using the vin and the code) as it was remembered, so i must have done something different this time, to disconnect the car from the account.

Yesterday the Spotify app did come back and i managed to pair ok, but i wanted to reconnect the app with the car so tried again to reset it.... now i am back to still not having it connected and also having no Spotify!

I have tried the enable all services, use wi-fi etc, nothing seems to bring the apps or BMW messages back. The only thing i have not done is enabled android auto as this does not seem to work when the phone uses a vpn which then causes phone to come up with errors over and over again when the android auto connection fails.....

Has anyone else had these problems? I have no idea how to get all the apps back that i had previously not how to get the car so it can see messages from BMW. Aby comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Matt

I found this older thread researching the exact same problem with our 2023 X5- my phone was connected, but my wife’s was not and was prompting us for the code in messages. After spending hours of attempted fixes at PCD in South Carolina while taking delivery, reading threads on the internet, talking on the phone with several BMW “Geniuses” (in name only) and repeating the same frustrating steps over and over, I finally found a true BMW Genius at a local dealership that fixed our problem…

-He had to completely reload the BMW apps in the vehicle- I wasn’t in the shop when he performed this step, but it was obvious that everything was not loaded correctly from the factory (I had done multiple reboots of the system and app update requests unsuccessfully as part of my troubleshooting efforts).

-He set up a separate ESA for my wife’s phone… this, according to him, should not have been necessary as there is existing functionality for primary and secondary accounts in the app setup, but this is what ultimately resolved the issue.

Long story short, it took a week-and-a-half, countless hours, and a 180 mile round trip to the dealership to get this resolved. Next new BMW, I will not leave the PCD site or dealership until all functionality has been demonstrated as working properly and fully (left PCD because the “specialist” told us the vehicle would update on the 6 hour drive home and all would be well… NOT!!!!

I hope that this info assists others with the same issues… this process almost drove me to pull out what little hair I have left!!!!
