Radar Detector False Laser Alerts ...

Hello,
I wanted to see if anyone had a similar issue with constant false laser alerts on their X3/X4 or the M equivalent. My father has 2020 X3MC and I installed Passport/Escort Max2 to the right of the rear view mirror stack and powered it via mirror tap. Since then the false laser alerts kept happening, quite often (this was not the case on his F25 X3). I spoke with Passport tech and they suggested that the unit was defective. I purchased a brand new Max2 to test and the false laser alert issue remained (no need to purchase 360 series as the only difference in the hardware are the arrows… their tech confirmed this).

I then used Escort supplied smart cable to see if mirror tap is causing issues… no difference. I moved the unit all the way down on the windshield, and the issue disappeared. I purchased Blendmount mirror attachment (see picture)… the laser false alerts came back. I wanted to keep the radar unit positioned cleanly by the mirror stack and not at the bottom of the windshield with regular power cord from cig lighter.

Any suggestion what may be causing false laser alerts?
Thank you

If you have gesture control you have to tape over the lasers in the overhead console. Disabling in iDrive will not turn off the beams.

I haven't used my MAX in the X3, but use it extensively in my Corvette Stingray. When I first got the MAX to beta test, I used the supplied suction mount and had no issues. I then went to Blendmount similar to what you, ellisina4, used. The MAX gave all sorts of bizarre readings. I contacted Blendmount, they knew as did Escort MAX, of the interference between the mirror electronics including the GPS and the Escort when it was attached using the Blendmount. I worked with Blendmount to try and find a fix, but ultimately gave up on the Blendmount (they purchased it back) and use the suction cup mount slightly away from the mirror electronics. No further issues.

Suggest you give up on the Blendmount and use the suction cup that came with your MAX.

No issues with my escort ix I used to have. I have a uniden r7 now and its mounted to the left under my rear view mirror with a mirrortap. Havent had false laser ever. I did however when I had the escort ix, if you point the radar directly at the climate controls it will alert laser. I noticed that when I had the escort ix changing settings while holding it in front of the climate controls. My uniden r7 never did that tho could be an firmware issue maybe?

Gesture control camera. You have it put a piece of tape or two over it.

Call Blendmount and have them ship you the Corvette "C7 Arm" component. It essentially moves the radar detector closer to the windshield and out of the view of the gesture control laser.

The C7 arm will go between the part that mounts to the mirror and the part that mounts to the detector.

I found this while searching high and wide - ultimately I gave up on my Max. Regardless of car, it goes off constantly so I decided to mount of my Redline in our new X3M40i...the Redline has less tech but damn it's good (it's also smaller too and has zero falsing). Max2 is in my F30 now.

Awesome, thank u, will definitely call them... I think you are the one who posted the review on their website about the corvette arm... I asked them about it and the tech had no idea... for now, I covered gesture control sensor with electrical tape and false laser alerts went away... my father does not use that tech.
Thank u, again.
