Burble and Pop
ok, you guys going to laugh at me.
I have my M40i for 6 months now, and I really don't like the burble. I want it have nice clear , deep tone, not burble and pop. Seem like some member from EU said their car doesn't burble and pop, and they want it. Any idea how I can make my car NOT to burble? I just want nice deep tone

European models are required by regulations not bypass a certain decibel, that's why they have an OPF filter installed (though they can remove it or install a 3rd party exhaust system).
You can also install a silent exhaust to remove the cracks and pops. |

Its not because of noise levels. The 2018s had no OPF filter, its purely due to emission regulations.

A tune will get rid of the burble. I'm actually looking to increase the burble with a tune since I'm use to the 2-3 second burble on my M4. LOL. To each their own!
The new supra uses the B58 engine and a youtuber recently straight piped it. The "exhaust" note was so deep and throaty. Check out 11:30.00 in the video below.

Go into the Sport Individual mode settings. Set the "Engine" to Comfort. Everything else can be set to whatever you want, but you should keep the transmission set to Sport or Sport Plus. There are no cracks and pops when the engine is set to comfort.
Since the engine is now in comfort mode, you will have slower throttle response even with the transmission set to Sport or Sport Plus. Putting the shift lever over to the left helps improve the throttle response somewhat. Last edited by TX3M; 10-10-2019 at 11:52 AM.. |

I see people post saying they INCREASE the burble, didn't know can turn it off. That lead to my dumb question. Does Burble mean the car running too rich?

I test drove the new 2020 X3 M40i today and the exhaust is definitely subdued compared to 2018 and 2019. The car doesn't really burble or pop anymore. Even in sport plus, the only way to get the car to make any small burble noises was to let off the gas at high revs.

I'm 99% sure. It was a 2020 model that recently arrived to the dealership (still had white plastic covering all over body and interior cardboard and plastic protectors) with the new galvanic buttons, ID7, Live Cockpit Professional, etc.
