Trade Assist

Our built to order X3 from last August has had a continual issue which the dealer could not resolve, and so BMW North America are offering a trade assist.

Can we expect no fees or charges, and are we tied to the same dealer? My concern is that if we are tied to the dealer, he may feel he doesn't need to offer any discounts.

A trade assist???? Do you mean a repurchase by BMWNA?

I don't know how it is termed, but BMW have agreed that our vehicle is a 'lemon', and are offering a trade assist to replace the vehicle.

I'm pretty sure trade assist can be used at any BMW dealer. You'll obviously check, but I don't think they will care. Sucks, but at least BMW is helping.

I've had 2 trade assists through BMWNA. This is their way of avoiding the car becoming a "lemon".

You will likely be offered a new car with a credit equal to what your original car cost less a mileage charge for the number of miles put on the car. If the new car has a higher MSRP you will pay the difference

This was my experience. YMMV.

Good luck on your "trade assists".

Did you request discount on both your trade assists? My feeling is that the dealer may feel they have you by the balls with a trade assist, and may refuse any negotiations.

BMWNA orchestrated the deal. The dealer supported the ordering of the new car. I did not negotiate as I felt the offer was fair.
