2009 X3 Revving\racing and shifting noise

I have a 2009 X3 30i, (recently bought) and noticed that as soon as I start the car and and put it into drive and accelerate the engine revs pretty high (3000+ RPM) and even if I push down more on the gas pedal the car is barely going 10mph and just revving. After about 15-30 seconds everything is fine and acceleration is normal and revving gone. It happens everytime. Weather is warm and not cold at all.

Also, I noticed that when going very slow (not even 10mph) and making a turn, I hear below me a noise that goes "clunk clunk" - its as if something is shifting or engaging\disengaging.

Is all this the transmission?
Thanks.

Might want to ask over at Bimmerfest, their E83 forum is a bit more active.

Transmission issue. Specifically mechatronics sleeves. Good news is these can be replaced easily.

This video shows exactly what needs to be done. New fluid, filter, and plastic mechatronics sleeves. Should shift like new after.

Additionally replace the servo motor or servo motor gear for transfer case. This is potentially the other culprit. Overtime the plastic gear wears down and transfer case fails to operate correctly.
