Torn/Cut in Interior Fabric BMW x3 M40i

Hi All,

My car was in service couple of days ago and when I was driving today I noticed as if the fabric is torning itself from edge of the joint near the sunroof like a cloth stitch comes at joint or corner . This is giving me so much OCD.

Really disappointed when it happened on car under 3 year with 27k miles . I really maintain my car well and this is driving me crazy . What can I do for this ? Will it be covered under BMW dealership under warranty ? How can I get it fixed ? Kindly help .

Attaching pics for reference :-

Hmm. My guess is they are going to say you did that. I doubt they will warranty it. You might try very carefully using super glue to close the tear and make it lay down flat.

Or take it to an interior trim shop and see what they say. That being said you should still try the dealer first.

For dealer will I have to go to the service department ? If dealer does not agree , how much will it cost to fix it any idea ?

Did you have them doing pano roof work because if not I bet they’ll fight any blame.

They won't cover that...definitely will assign blame to you. Try the ridetime suggestion and drop a bit of superglue in there so the rip doesn't spread further

From personal experience, be careful using superglue on fabric damage like this. It sets very hard and quick leaving the fabric damage looking worse than when you started.

I’d look for specialist glue.

3M Scotch Weld 74 Spray Adhesive, it’s designed for applications like this. Simply mask off the area, spray on then wipe off excess.

I’d recommend trying/testing before on an off cut of fabric first before tackling the roof liner……if you leave it it’s going to get progressively worse as time goes on.
