Coding for "Hands off Detection"

Just coded increased time for hands off detection. So now assisted driving, hands off detection is disabled / takes longer to respond:

code following in SAS module:

C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwAusschaltgrenzeKmh
C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwEinschaltgrenzeKmh
C_STA_ALC_HandsOffGeschwErwUmschaltgrenzeKmh
C_STA_ALC_HandsOffxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

4 items i can't remember the 4th so I put xxxxxx, change the values to FF

It is all dependent on road conditions and quality of line markings, works when following a vehicle too, i went several minutes without having to touch the steering wheel

Interesting, I don't use adaptive cruise much but when I do it'd be nice to have more time to eat.

What year is your x3?

If and when this causes an accident, be ready for a lawsuit. Good luck…

Perhaps you could do a slo-mo once you get in your back seat as that 2 tonne baby ploughs into a semi? :-)

In this country you should be ready for a money grab if you even look at someone the wrong way. If you're at fault, you're at fault - I don't think it matters if the car was steering or you were.

Personally I'd be interested in this for stop and go traffic where I'm barely going 5 mph.

Do whatever makes you happy.
Go look up all Telsa accidents and legal ramifications associated with them.
There is a lot of grey area when it comes to traffic accidents, but if you modified the steering assist and kill someone, makes 'fault' a lot less grey.
Do what you want.
Its not an autonomous system, Period.

I don't think anyone considers this anywhere near autonomous driving. But what is the difference between an accident caused from someone buried in their phone, and one caused by someone extending the hands-off time and similarly, not staying sufficiently alert.

No. The SAS module, or Steering Angle Sensor, is not supported in the Bimmercode app. Additionally, there are no plans to include it future updates.

At low speeds, under 30kmh, it doesn't check at all. Or at least it checks much less frequently. At higher speeds, you need to touch the wheel every 30 seconds, which is super anoying.
