Is this only USA, or world wide?
Mine stopped working the end of last year, but i cannot imagine BMW offering this extended warranty in Europe here...

It seems to apply only to US models.

I received the letter today. Happily, I've not had an issue. If you've paid for a repair out of warranty, the letter has instructions on filing a claim to be reimbursed.

Mine went belly up. Had my independent German auto repair shop replace the parts last week and now I am processing the paperwork to be reimbursed for my private pay for the work completed.

Uncannily, today I received another extended warranty on yet another part on this car. Very unsettling.

Thought I got a gem when I ordered this 2019 in mid 2018. No trouble until one week ago, at 22k miles on the odometer. Sad, I am.

I can’t recall getting a letter, but does this apply to the 2020 X3 as well?
Mine stopped working and now they are stuck open and check engine light is on.

You should be able to check for it by using this link . If not there , try using just the NHTSA.GOV site for your year .

THANK YOU.

Will take it to Irvine BMW and see what they say.. Had a problem in 2021 that cause Engine Light. They replaced it, and now it happened again.

Let you know what happened.

Had this happen to my 2019 X3 m40i. Had my usual shop repair it, before I found out it was covered.

Sent in my paperwork, and was rejected. "Not covered". Even though the paperwork detailed the issue, the part #s, everything. Tried calling the BMW-RP number, and it goes to voice mail, and no call back. Ever.

I then called BMW USA, and was told there was nothing they could do, it was a "BMW RP" issue. I understand, I said, but they won't call back. Sorry, I was told. Maybe try your dealer, the person said.

I'll go by the dealer next week, which is a PITA I shouldn't have to do. Over a dozen BMWs since my first 325e in 1986. This will be my last.

Did you have a check engine light on?

I don’t have a check engine light but the shutter flaps are open. Think they will still cover it?

Yes, I had a check engine light. It had gone away when I brought it in, but it was still stored. If you have a reader, maybe check if you have the code stored and then they should fix it.

I scanned it and there’s no stored codes. Should I still take it in?

I also had this issue in my 2021 330i and they said it was a programming update required. What was your outcome?
