Harsh 2-1 Downshift

I have a 2018 X3 with @80k miles. When driving in the mornings until the transmission warms up the 2-1 downshift when slowing to a stop is terrible, almost feels like you are being rear ended. Once warm the transmission is completely normal. I have searched the forums and don't see anything specific. Has anyone else encountered and corrected this?

ZF calls for replacement trans fluid every 50-75K miles even though BMW says lifetime fill. New fluid and filter might help.

Tons of videos on YT if you need a guide on how to if your doing it yourself.

What driving mode are you using ? Eco, Comfort, Sport or Sport Plus? I know mine seems to downshift a lot harder in Sport Plus .What model do you have ?I have a 2018 30i with the 4 cylinder engine, but I think it’s the same transmission. I guess either way, it probably shouldn’t feel that harsh. Maybe try a reset on the transmission.

Ideal transmission oil change is at every 60k miles. Don't forget to change oil especially in the transfer case, also good to change both differentials fluid.
Is there any other fluid that needs to be changed? (brake, coolant)

It's in Comfort most of the time its driven and always when this happens. It's like the something is locking up.

Fluids are always changed before BMW recommended service intervals.

Like others said , maybe time to do a trans fluid and filter change. I have the same as you and mine is as smooth as silk in comfort, I also only have 30 plus thousand miles on mine. Mine up shift and down shift are Much harsher in spot and sports plus than when in comfort.

I was asking mainly for us, people, who will move to other garages after the warranty expires...

I have an 2018 M40i which had a lot of jerkiness/shuddering at low speed especially when the engine was cold, and it needed VANOS solenoids to be replaced. Not sure if this affects the 4 cylinder as well.

This could also be related to the transfer case. If you have ISTA, you can disable the transfer case and see if it still happens.
