X3 G01 Autotecknic Interior Carbon Fiber trim
Hi All,
Just got my Autotecknic CF Interior trim for my X3 G01. Purchased it from RG Sport. Just thought of posting some pics of the pieces before I install. I couldn't seem to find pics out there of what the pieces looks like from behind or info on how thick are those pieces. Hopefully these pics will help folks wondering the same questions that I had. I'll be posting more pics what it looks like after install. CF quality wise, I don't have the original pieces to compare, but so far it looks really good. |

I’ve been trying to get second hand OEM carbon interior but no luck
Plus got to pull car apart to install them. I’m interested on how your overlays look installed. Make sure you post some pics and tell us how easy it was I’m in two minds about overlays

Hi Rikes, yes, I'll take note on the install process and post some pics. I'm planning to install them this weekend.
Hi Shaun170, thanks for the info. Happy to hear that is very similar to the OEMs |

Interested to see some close up pics after installation, I am considering doing this but worried that being glued over original it will either add significant thickness or will be visible that it is additional "layer" glued over

I bought them a year ago, installed them and was not really happy about the tolerances, specially around the door ambient lighting and the center console piece. Sent them a ton of pictures and they wanted 3 months to replace them even though I wanted to return them. Thankfully I used PayPal. Sent them back and got my money back. Been very happy with my wooden trim ever since

Had the fit been better it almost looks like OEM. Very thin layer of cf so doesn't really look like an overlay

k... folks... I managed to install the trims. I have about 20 detail photos. Not sure whether I can upload that many. I know that I can upload 5 per time, but not sure whether I can post 4 replies with each 5 photos. I'll give it a try
Sooo... good news... install process was easy. Basically clean the area to. be stick on, remove the cf trim 2 sided tape backing, align the trim and stick it on. Bad news... fitting wise on the door trims were not perfect. I would say about 6 or 7 out of 10. You know what I mean when I post those pics. To answer the question whether it is obvious that is an overlay? The answer is that it is obvious if you look at it from about 1 ft away for the door trims. You can tell by looking at the side of the door handle that the overlay sticks out about 1 mm. For the center console, I think is a pretty good fit. Again, you'll know what I mean when I post the pics. Would I spend $695 US if I know about the above bad news? Probably not unless you really really want that CF look and you cannot afford (or don't want to remove panels) the oem pieces. If is about $400, I may consider it. To my understanding that the oem door trims is glued/welded to the main door panel. If I knew about the not so perfect fitting of the door trim, I would have just kept my wood trim. I still would keep it since I already paid so much for it The CF quality is still good and looks great from a distance... just don't look too closely |

Here are the pics for the driver door trim. There are 2 identical CF trim for the left and right side. I did a dry fit on each of the CF trim to find out which CF trim fits which door the best.

I'm happy with the finish, however the fitting can be better. If I knew from beginning of the fitting, I wouldn't have purchased them especially with full retail price. But I couldn't find any pics in any forum or in the net specifically for x3 g01 Autotecknic interior trim fitting.
For the pre-lci, I don't think theres CF around the shifter or around cubby hole. You probably can buy from alibaba or from ebay, but with oem layout, there's none. |

I have the same overylays, except i purchased them through aliexpress instead of Autotecknic ( about half the cost). been running them for about 6 months and no issues. The fitment like OP said for them is not 100%, but hardly noticeable.
The center console Carbon fiber is OEM and looks exactly the same to me as the overlays. |

Yeah I was concerned about fitment. I ordered real CF boomerangs from Autoteknic and the fitment was horrible. Scratched my grills trying to install them. They refunded me but sending things back from Australia was a nightmare. I canceled the other CF parts I had on order.
Unfortunately real CF will twist and warp. Thanks for the pics it’s really helpful. I will continue to hope I find a wrecked vehicle to get OEM parts as BMW in Australia want $3500 AUD for the 6 pieces

E44, it looks like your door trim fits better. I dont see a 1mm gap like mine. I guess i should have gone with aliexpress. Did u have to pay taxes, duties, brokerage fees?

Try getting a refund from autotechnik if the parts are not up to standard. They worked with me when i purchased their CF mirror caps and returned due to quality issues. here are more photos of the general fitment. |
