I purchased bootmod3 with OBD WiFi adapter.

I got the app all set up with WiFi. The only way it connects is when my engine is running. I obviously can’t flash my car with it on.

Any suggestions??

I thought 2019 was the last year you could flash without shipping off the ecu?

June 2020 ecu and beyond are locked. Which means most 2020 are fine.

Still need to bench unlock, 2019 cars are the last year that don’t need a bench unlock

Did you unlock your DME already?

If there is any concern that the DME is locked, the app should tell you if you are able to flash or not.

Are the 40i and the X3M different for cut off dates? I don't recall the X3M needing a bench unlock all the way up to the June ECU production date.

Check with PTF but i believe 2020 models need to be bench unlocked
2021+ will need to be sent to Femto

Forgot to mention, MY and PD are different. So my MY 2020 is a 2019 PD. You can check PD from mdecoder

You need to know what kind of unlock you need first.

BM3 should be able to tell you.
You dont have a issue with flashing as you stated in your first post.
Your DME is locked. You cannot flash.

Now you need to know if your 2020 DME was manufactured before June 2020 or after?

1.
Before June 2020, any BMW tuner that is local should be able to unlock it for you. You can go down to the shop and 30 minutes and youre on the way. Or if no one is local you need to send it to them. This is anyone in the US, and should cost $100-200.

2.
If your DME is after June 2020 your only option is FEMTO unlock from Finland. You need a tuner that ships it to them. Takes about 5-10 days, and cost is $1000-2000 here.
