After 3 weeks and 500 miles of installing them, I can notice it settling bit lower. How many miles until they fully settle? DSC02780 by , on Flickr

Did you ever get your issue resolved?

I'd like to go lower than 5mm front and 20mm rear, but it seems some people are having issues going lower than that

The problem with the MSS, if you lower more than 5mm and 20mm you're be riding on the bump stop and the ride quality is horrible from what I've been told. I'm not 100% happy with them and plan switching to the KW V3 coilovers in the near future.

This is how it looks once settle (it's a 2 finger gap that= 1.25 drop)

If you want an aggressive drop, KW V3 is your best choice.
This platform front shock’s doesn’t have that much travel. Cutting it down by 1.25” is a lot already.
And also, the stock top mount bushing and bearing already stressing with that amount of drop.
With BMW parts quality that is getting cheaper, you will have noise issues and longevity issue.

I was quoted $400 to install MSS, that doesn’t cover the alignment.

that's a good price, wheel alignment should run around $100 - $150

Just moved to the 265/295 tire setup with MSSs at lowest settting up front - larger front sidewall helped minimize some of the fender to tire gap up front.

Please post more photos soon. I'm saving up my money for a set of nice 892 wheels on my Donington Gray X3 MC too.

The ride feels much improved with this tire setup (Michelin PS AS). I was getting rubbing in the rear on big dips with my 12mm spacers, I swapped down to 8mm in rear and it’s much better, but on really big dips it rubs I bit. Without spacers it should not be an issue.

Overall the ride is much better IMO - a lot less harsh than the OEM Continentals.

However, I did the ISTEP software update at the same time as tire swap - so I am not sure how much of improvement is from tires vs the software update. Others have reported improvement from the software update alone.

For those that have done a DIY install, any idea why we cant install the front like evolve did on a G80? Instead of removing the strut from the knuckle, they left the strut within the knuckle and removed the top mount just dropped the strut from the top mount via a jack (slowly). See video below at 1 minute:

Just finished reading the entire thread and getting motivated to do this.

r33_RGSport What is the highest you can go i.e. closest to stock height on these springs without having the clanks/pops/clunks that are reported on several threads? And how much do they settle? I'm trying to gauge how much of a drop I'll have with this setup.

Thanks everyone for the pics!

Just did one at stock height earlier this week.
It was at stock height.
No clunk, no creak, no noise.

I stated it many times, none of my installation make noises.

Unfortunately you're not in Houston...
How much do they drop from stock height once they settle in? Thanks again for the insight

Usually once settled, it will lower about 1/8" to 1/4".

Ben - you did my (blue) '22 X4MC. I have a note of the ride heights before and after (2 weeks in):
Front went from 77.5cm to 75.5cm = 2cm = 0.8 inches
Rear went from 79.5cm to 77.0cm = 2.5cm = 1 inch

And, yes no noise.

Did you set up the MSS springs at stock height before you had them installed? Thanks for the update, appreciate it

No, I believe Ben set them up to what ride height he knew would work. I do recall that he mentioned that MSS springs actually cannot lower our F97/98 cars "all the way" (fully lowered springs). I trusted his judgement and I am glad I did.
