Didn't take long for my first issue....

3 bmws in the last 5 years. First one was problem free. Second one had one issue (wastegate failure) now this one...1,000 miles and change on the odometer...my front washer nozzles decide they don't want to spray anymore. There's definitely washer fluid in there as the rear one still works. I can understand maybe one out of the three nozzles fail...or maybe freeze...but all three don't work. Probably a loose hose or something. Was too dark for me to go rooting around in there
Have a service appointment this weekend for my RIS. Will have them fix it then

I know...it could be worse...just frustrating cause all the salt and road grime kick up. I have to stop at a red light and spray some quick detailer on the windshield and use my wipers...so embarrassing. 80k car and can't even wash the windshield.

Temps? I’ve had plenty of nozzles freeze up and stop working in cold weather but once they warmed up were fine.

Just found it odd how all three fronts went out but the rear works. Granted it was pretty darn cold in NY yesterday. But my previous cars have sat through polar vortexes with no issue. Suppose to warm back up a bit today. So we will see later. Not sure how I feel about it if I'm fact they froze after one day in the bitter cold.

At least you weren't leaking oil... twice... Lol.

Sorry to hear man, that's annoying. Hope it gets fixed quickly. Do you hear the pump trying to run when you hit the wiper stalk?

I'd be curious if the fluid froze. There are different formulations and it is possible BMW does not fill with one that will withstand freezing temps.

Short of that I would get the pump if you are not hearing any sound.

Annoying, but better than an engine failure!

agreed... would take this anyday over engine issues (knock on wood) when my x5 had a wastegate actuator failure i was without the car for almost 2 weeks.
went from an msport x5 to a base x5 and it was noticeable.

i would gladly accept an m5 or m8 loaner to putter around with now.. lol

I'm an ass apparently. I didn't think these could freeze up. Wasn't the fluid since the rear nozzle worked...but my front ones (or the line leading to them) froze. Today the temps went above freezing and they work again. I'll mention it to service tomorrow.
Time to clean out my garage so the car do t have to sit outside at nughtb

Now that is it unfrozen, just empty out all the fluid by constantly spraying it. Then get some formulated for the winter. The all-season stuff will freeze when sprayed on the windshield.

The Rain-X All Season stuff (~$3 at Walmart) I use is supposed to be good for all seasons down to 0 degrees. I’ve never had an issue with it freezing.

I used to swap per season summer (bug) formula and winter de-icer but this stuff has treated me well.

I mentioned to my service advisor today. They said from the factory it can be a little diluted. He's gonna have the tech check the pumps and hoses. Then will fill with more concentrate to avoid further issues with regards to freezing lines / nozzles

I have noticed the spray from the nozzles are not that powerful compared to my last BMW. They seem weak. I’m not sure if that can contribute to having ineffective spray in winter but with less pressure not surprised it could also be one if the causes.

I was in Vermont last weekend. Was 1 below zero at night and in the single digits during the day. Headed back home early Monday and the front washers wouldn't work. Rear worked fine. Not good trying to head down 87 with a road spray coating my windshield. Worked fine after about an hour with the weather warming up. Was going to bring it in...Glad to hear that it might just be the diluted fluid (was just refilled by the dealer in December).

I don't think BMW is using a good winter blend fluid from the factory on these vehicles. Mine stopped working at about -10C and colder and worked again when the weather got closer to freezing. Never had this issue with my M2 or any other new model car.

Side note? How do you turn on the rear spray ? I've been trying to figure that out. It doesn't work like all other cars where you just push out the wiper stalk ?

Tell me about it... bad design once you start filling it has to go down a small tube take about bottle neck!
